Long time lurker, first time poster here - been through a lot of kit over the years but have settled with my dynaudio/exposure combo for some time now. I'm a bit of a flat earther who likes computer audio, beefy amps, ballsy speakers and old school multibit DACs.

As for tunes I am pretty much all over the place - lots of Young Marble Giants, Hank III and Venetian Snares recently (much to the Mrs' dismay!!).

Am also a fan of Exposure gear & old-school multibit DACs. Venetian Snares, hah, pretty intense. Talented guy though.

Indeed - he can be quite melodic at times but on the whole it's pretty ear melting stuff! Always liked a bit of aphex twin, square pusher et al but this Canadian gent certainly shows them what intense is all aboot :)

I used to think all DACs sounded the same, so sold my all discrete TDA 1541A s1 avi dac a few months back as it was nearly as old as me. Rather regretted it the decision afterwards but have luckily found another - this one isn't going anywhere :D

Yes a few TDA1541A DAC fans here I use one too. Despite other strengths no other DAC is as 'analogue' and natural to these ears.

Was pretty blown away with Squarepusher's bass playing & also a fan. Have you heard Plaid? Like a more downtempo variation of this stuff.

I agree Neil - my unit is not the most detailed/revealing of DACs but it's presentation carries a real sense of weight/body in the midrange & lower frequencies. I've grown to like it's character a lot over time and I've not found anything else to better it on those respects.

Yes, Tom's bass playing is extraordinary - I saw him play accompanied by a live drummer(!) at greenman last year, his and Cat Power's sets were the highlights of the festival. Am off to see him again at Bristol next month and am really looking forward to it :) His new album Ufabulum is well worth a listen if you haven't check it out yet.
