View Full Version : Nippon
I have a few Japanese vinyl pressings. For some reason (*1) they always sound better. I am upside down (*2) and have to make my vinyl purchases online. Do members know of any Japanese online vendors? Joynetmall (*3) is absolutely fabulous - even Jennifer goes there - but they do not sell vinyl.
(1) Well I know the reason, quality is part of their ethos;
(2) New Zealand

Have a look at Snow Records (http://www.snowrecords.co.jp/servlet/StoreFront) that's where I buy my anti-static inner sleeves from. Even to the UK, they're the cheapest source I can find and have now been using them for several years.
I've had the odd record from them too & their service is excellent and fast.
Best of all, the stock list is never anything less than vast - they're currently showing over 13,200 12" records!

Thanks for that link. That sure is a mighty inventory. Most of the LPs seem to be 2nd hand - I am still looking for new LPs. I certainly will give snowrecords a go though.

Good looking site Chris Some good gems

Tried them out with:
DUTOIT, CHARLES | stravinsky; symphony in c ¥1,575
HOGWOOD, CHRISTOPHER | mozart; symphonies no.35 "haffner" & 36 "linz" ¥945
PANENKA, JAN | beethoven; piano concerto no.5 "emperor"¥1,155
JOCHUM, EUGEN | mozart; symphony no.41 jupiter¥630
Quality seems OK - at least on the one I have listened to. Delivery quick and good packaging.
Would still like to find a Japanese source of quality new pressings
I regularly use Jappress, Soundfinder and Duramaya for 2nd hand jap pressings. Jappress is cheapest postage. If you use the others, only order in 2's or you could pay fairly high postage.
If you only buy VG++ or better, I've found the quality excellent.
