Hi Ian,

It's the coke bottle amp I assume. Given he dense population of tubes, it gets very hot and the coating can be damaged. Further does it come its original tube cage ?, it's a slightly costly amp to re-valve, how old are the fitted tubes ? Is it free of mechanical hum and quiet through speakers when hooked up ?

If all of the above is acceptable and in order, I'd say around 5-600 Pounds.

Oh and btw, I used to own one.

Great little amp, slightly more vintage like in terms of tonality - compared to later designs from GC.

Match carefully and feed them a light load and it really sings. I used mine with a Micro 25 and Snell E speakers, great combo.

I'm assured it's in very good condition though haven't seen it. It's from a very trusted source, a friend I've traded with many times over the years and who started all this, selling me my first valve amps which I fell in love with ! There's no pressure so I'll be going to see it next week.

I had a Series 5 mark 2 - very nice amp; nicely dynamic and detailed.

I don't know the diffs between the mk1 and 2.

Here's what I said about the comparison way back when ....




It doesn't have quite the weight and gravitas of the Chord amp, nor quite its dynamic punch or bass tautness.
But it gains in openness, detail, mid and treble speed and articulation and image focus & 3D soundstage.

And I really liked that Chord amp and kept it far longer than is usual for me.

Back in the day, we sold bucket loads of them. Very good amps and reasonably priced at £500 for a taste of valve sound.

We did have a period when the base for the large power supply tube in the centre, literally fell to bits. Other than that there were no problems and this would have happened by now, if at all.

l had one and to be honest a waste of money as it very rarely worked and it got incredibly hot l come come down my stairs to find the thing having it's own little firework display, sorry to be a farty but you did ask, l suppose some were good and some bad.......
