According to John Darko of Digital Audio Review, the AK100 does not do gapless playback.

Is this true?

I'm staggered if it is. Even the Sansa Clip (c. £40) can do gapless playback!

"Iriver Hi Russ. There isn't an exact timetable of the gapless release. Rest assured, our engineers are hard at work making gapless happen."

dual mono dac 196Gb storage

In recent months Astell & Kern’s AK100 portable high resolution digital music player (€699) has taken the high-performance headphone market by storm, but for Munich the firm released its even more ambitious AK120 (€1299), which sports dual Wolfson 8740 DACs, even lower output impedance than the AK100, a higher specification battery, and the ability to support two 64GB MicroSD cards. What is more, Astell & Kern intend to enable the AK120 to be able to convert DSD files to PCM and then to play them.
