The Rega deck needs an extra support IMO. See if you can find one and borrow it?

Something Solid used to make a nice one, but I don't know if it's still available. I think Audio-Tech did as well, but they may not be available now. Perhaps a balsa shelf from Something Solid sitting on three squash-ball halves may be great too.

Never really thought about an extra T/T suppport as the floor is concrete, would it make that much difference?

I don't think putting another box on top of the Pure Sound (valve) phono stage is a good idea.

It just will not fit anywhere else unfortunately, it weighs next to nothing and the p10 is 3 times its depth so no harm being done, I hope :D

Excellent clear pictures sir, but I've noticed the mounting of the cartridge is a bit wrong for your Rega arm. If you move the cartridge forwards a bit till the tip of the styli touches the edge of the arm then you'd let it trace the record with 15mm overhang. In my experience this should gives you a more better sound.
Any correction would welcome.

Thanks, I'm certainly no expert on this and only used the template supplied.
When you say "so the tip of the styli touches the edge of the arm" do you mean is in line with the edge of the arm?

Very tidy system.

How do you find the Sony CD 'Jukebox'?

It is a wonderful, convenient box of tricks. I don't buy CD's anymore and so no.1 it is a great storage rack, I have it hooked up to my DAC with an optical cable, so its acts as a CD transport. Sonically then it is as good as my DAC ,which to these ears is very good. It can be programmed like an ipod, shuffle discs, songs, favorites etc. It reads CD data discs which are few and far between, otherwise you have to input disc data manually and only 13 digits allowed which is the only drawback IMO.
I would never part with it as its quite unique and I paid £ 225 for it new :)

Nice looking system :) agree with the earlier comment re: moving the cart forward. I did think the same, it looks way back. I have this cart and it is a gem which has to be set up right. Print off a paper protractor for your arm from Vinyl Engine. I prefer the Baerwald version, you wont regret it. If possible have a fiddle with vta adjust as it can also make a big difference with this lovely cart - Let us know how you get on :)

Dear Bazil,
Yes Sir, I use Rega Baerwald alignment protractor v.2. this gives you that curve line which your styli should follow this line. Here is the link http://www.vinylengine.com/cartridge-alignment-protractors.shtml
Most of the protractors do give you impression that the styli should goes to the central of the spindel which isn't for offset angle arms.
Give it a try!.
Regards.

When you say "so the tip of the styli touches the edge of the arm" do you mean is in line with the edge of the arm?

My 2M Black sits with the front edge of the cartridge flush with the front edge of the arm's mounting plate, on a Tecnoarm. I think the geometry will be the same, although if you used the Rega template perhaps best to wait for further confirmation from forum colleagues before changing anything.
Nice looking system, by the way!

Edit .. sorted already, doh ... too slow LOL

That is a lovely system.:hifives:

When I had my P3-24 I found using a thick granite slab underneath really focused the sound. Even better was when I borrowed a sand-filled isolation box.

OK boys you've got me thinking now about my cart set up!

I'm confused about how far forward the cart sits in the headshell. If it is set-up according to the protractor, does that mean it is sitting in the right place or can you effectively put it how far forward you like and then align it?

Well it sounded good before and its new so I haven't played many records with it, the reset certainly sounds very good but not enough hours listening to comment.

Here is a comprehensive guide to work out your varies arm for it geometry mounting. http://http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.vinylengine.com/images/protractors/helius_aureus_protractor.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.vinylengine.com/cartridge-alignment-protractors.shtml&h=150&w=285&sz=7&tbnid=PYtu7e99W2HmeM:&tbnh=59&tbnw=112&zoom=1&usg=__0fll1bZWNtfOMelKKSP9mX6V5y0=&docid=FsJG_QqYPbhmHM&sa=X&ei=qVcdUbjkJqeW0QWMmoGoCw&ved=0CDoQ9QEwAQ (http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.vinylengine.com/images/protractors/helius_aureus_protractor.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.vinylengine.com/cartridge-alignment-protractors.shtml&h=150&w=285&sz=7&tbnid=PYtu7e99W2HmeM:&tbnh=59&tbnw=112&zoom=1&usg=__0fll1bZWNtfOMelKKSP9mX6V5y0=&docid=FsJG_QqYPbhmHM&sa=X&ei=qVcdUbjkJqeW0QWMmoGoCw&ved=0CDoQ9QEwAQ)

As you can see from the examples some give you that it should goes to central of the spindle. What it means it these two points are the zero tracking error. I think the Baerwald one gives a fluid better timing to music.

Peter, what tracking force have you set ?

I found it changed as the cartridge 'ran in'. When it was new, it worked best at 1.7 grams, but once the suspension had settled, which took 40 hours or more, 1.5 grams seems like the sweet spot.

Hi Peter, I have made a few changes to the T/T - sub platter, double pulley, twin silicone belts and Isokinetik c/weight. I did them all at the same time so couldn't say which was best, overall a nice improvement but the wall shelf I fitted today was a total sonic change!
The sound is now right in your face, no hiding place, I'm hoping it will calm down once the cart is run in.
