View Full Version : Scalford transport?
I've just had a look at the possibility of me getting to the Scalford Hall show by public transport. According to nationalrail.co.uk, it will take me over four hours to just get to Melton Mobray (arriving at the earliest by 12:33) and Google Maps informs me I can do it by bus in a little over seven hours :stalks:
So I don't think it's really practical :lol:
Just wondered if anyone was going down on the Sunday morning who would be passing anywhere near me who could give me a lift :please: ? I live in North Derbyshire close to the Cheshire/Greater Manchester border and can get myself to Stockport/Manchester Airport areas easily enough.
Of course I would expect to pay a fair contribution towards fuel costs.

It's an absolutly redicularse place to if your using public transport. I get browned off cos i can't go each year.

That's very kind of you Marco, but I think it would take you too far out of your way - about 137 miles as opposed to 104 miles Wrexham to Scalford directly. I'm limited as to where we could meet up - especially early on a Sunday morning - by what public transport runs at that time. The only real places are Stockport or Manchester Airport as there is a bus service to the airport via Stockport that runs early on a Sunday from New Mills.

No, but there'll (very likely) be an AoS *show* this year in November! Oh, and it'll most likely be in Derby, so reasonably 'oop north' for those of us who live miles away from 'darn sarf'... ;)

No, but it is a HELL of a lot easier to get to the likely Derby location by public transport - one of the primary drivers in deciding where it will happen as we are conscious not everyone can or wants to drive to a show.

No, but it is a HELL of a lot easier to get to the likely Derby location by public transport - one of the primary drivers in deciding where it will happen as we are conscious not everyone can or wants to drive to a show.

It's still pretty good value, it's just that last time I looked inflation was about 4% a year. Have to admit in 2012 I was all 'hi-fied out' by about the 40th system.

There are a few systems I really want to have a proper listen to. So I'll spend a fair bit of time there and just get to listen to a few others as I wander around.
I know the price has gone up, but it's not much and still pretty good value for money imo.
I shall be going up on Saturday for a beer with the boys this year. SHould be no problems with parking then. :cool:

Most of the rooms are really not that loud. But maybe it's just not pipe 'n slippers enough for you. :lol:

I'm looking forward to it, we'll be taking our budget system, hopefully we can get it to sound acceptable in the room supplied (you never really know:hairmetal:).
I guess our idea of good sound won't be everyone else's and we don't play 'quietly' as real music isn't quiet, so we tend to play at realistic level to suit the room and system. The amount of people in the room makes a BIG difference to the sound we have found in the past, so some volume adjusting goes on through out the day as things warm through and loosen up!
Cone and see us and have a chat on the second floor where we will have two wheels of steel spinning:).

Just been thinking, might be a good idea bringing suppositories as some rigs will definitely sound shite to you André,
at least you'll tell the shower's you thoughts without opening your mouth.
