i'm putting these speakers on here on behalf of a friend. this is the info he's given.
'Well after 4 years of trying to get these to work in 2 different rooms in my house I have had to admit defeat and move on. The conclusion I have decided for my defeat is the 802d's downward firing portand my suspended wood floor with a hollow 5 foot deep cavity below it spoiling the bottom end, I have always felt that it was masking the last bit of detail when turned up. I have tried everything bass traps,treatment under the floor and townshend isolation platforms to no avail. So the last few months I have been buying/trying various speakers to see if I could achieve all the good things the 802d's did & lose the over active bottom end. I believe I have now done this with the purchase of some Tannoy Prestige Sterling TW's but thats another story, So here we have my lovely B&W802d's up for sale.
As I said above I have had these speakers for just about four years purchased from the Sound Org in York I believe they used them for demos for about a year, They are in top condition with a ding on theside of one cabinet which I will endeavor to list a picture of. I am not going to waffle on about what they do there is plenty of information on the web just a button push away.
The speakers come complete with the double ended spikes see pics (I hope) one end is spiked & the other has a large rubber pad for wood floors, they are mounted when packed with castors fitted so easyto move around & once you have them located then the spikes/rubber feet can be fitted, I also have the Townshend isolation platforms for sale preference will be given to the person buying the speakers.
I have all the packing for them which is required to move them any more than room to room as the shape of the speakers makes them difficult to carry without it & I mean difficult.
The speakers packed weight 90kg each & the actual speaker is 80kg each so posting is not really an option but could be palleted at the buyers expence. the Stands are 9kg each and are designed to take up to 100kg.
I am looking for £4,750 for the speakers and £450 for the Townshend stands these were £950 new. if you want more pics or information just ask.
They will be packed at the weekend for shipping so if anyone interested wants to hear them beforehand you need to get a wriggle on (the other half is chuntering at me). Steve.'
