300B amps and a powered sub??

Anyone use this combination?

300B monoblocks with high sensitivity loudspeakers and a powered sub(s) for filling out the bottom end

I'm contemplating doing such a thing... :scratch:

Depends on how good the high sensitivity speakers and amp are, and how good the sub is, ... and the crossover points.

It can work out ok, and sometimes very well... but more regularly one can end up change in both tone and speed as one get into the lower bass.
High sensitivity bass drivers are the best route in my view, i know may will disagree, as they are the hardest to integrate by far and they are big..think tannoy bass

If depends on the sub......what I use is a Bastanis 12" wideband and tweeter as open baffles. Getting bass to match isn't easy, in my situation I need open baffle bass to match the rest of the speakers. I use 2 x 15" bass drivers as OB bass has a cancellation effect so I need to counteract this. I use 8W 300B SE (amongst other amps) for 100Hz upwards, I then use about 300W solidstate on the bass drivers along with DSP. I drive the bass amps from my preamp at line level.

I use a 2A3 integrated with sub and high sensitivity speakers.

Use a 2A3 integrated with sub and high sensitivity speakers.
Or even monoblocks, eg Bottlehead Paramounts configured for 2A3 as long as Biff's speakers are 100db or better. Unless of course he must have 300B.
