Oops they are both out of date
No big rush for either
What is the quickest and easiest way to get them done ?
Was going to do my driving one online.
But my passport has run out so guess it will be the P.O.
Think you can pay a few extra quid to speed it up.

Should have said what is the easiest and cheapest way if one is lazy
:)
My guess is that the passport can be used to get the licence, but I need the licence to drive - I just found out - and the passport could take weeks and I may never need it
Yes if your passport was in date the driving one could be done online.
Need to go and get a mug shot.

Bum
Sounds like the best way is to go to a PO that takes photos and get the licence photo.
Could I get the passport thing started at the same time do you think ?
how far are you from wimbledom ? , easiest way is to pop in with mugshot and licence and they will do the rest

Not far, say 10-15 miles
Issue is both are out of date
Got my passport done just the other day, went into local post office with my old passport, got photos, filled in the paper form, gave it to the bloke who did the check and sign thing and sent if off. New passport arrived in 6 working days!
did my license in december , don't think they needed "proof" as your mugshot is already there , simply updating mugshot, as DVLA will returnto the correct address

Great !
I assumed all sorts of barriers
Would be fab if I could get both done at the same time
I have this horrid feeling of a jobsworth being 100% unhelpful

How long did it take to come back tommy?
was back in 3 weeks , point being , if you use a local DVLA office then as soon as it is handed over , i believe everything is legal and you can continue to drive

It simple, just a straight forward renewal. Your photo doesn't need signing. I just did mine and it was well out of date. Anyway, sent everything in and got it back no problems. If you go to the post office they can charge a fee, so bear that in mind. I did mine on the net.

Sorry, got the forms off the net, already had a recent passport. Sent it in and 76 pounds. I sent 80, but they sent me a cheque back for 4 pounds. Don't have the pound sign on the nexus, just incase your wondering:):)

Mike, you can do the driving licence at some post offices. Some have a booth set up in front of the counter specifically for this.

Please do it ASAP because if your licence has expired, you dont have a licence to drive which apart from the obvious driving offence means that your insurance is also invalid!
I had to do mine last year and I moaned like Victor Meldrew about it......just another example of having you pants pulled down. I plane to use the same phone at every renewal for the rest of my life now just out of principle!:steam:

As you know for passport to have to be positioned on your photo as specified, if you use a booth to take photo & cock it up you have to pay another fiver to re try, I thought it best to go to Max Spielmann's shop to get mine done, it was only around the corner from the post office, she gave me eight photos for about a fiver, even punched them me out with nice rounded corners, she said if the post office checker was'nt happy with the photos to come back & sort them out..very good service..

Didn't know, been so long
I feel like not getting a passport to spite them :)
Yes I know it won't help me if I want to get out of the country
