Here is a real curio/novelty. This binaural tone arm dates back to 1953 !

Fascinating! I've seen photographs of the Livingstone 'binaural' arm before, but never, until now, seen one in use.

Looks straightforward, until you realise that both tracks have to be precisely synchronised - that is, start and stop at the same time. Furthermore, since each 'half' of the pickup arm has a different effective length for its respective channel, and that the records themselves have two sets of inner and outer radii, each 'half' needs to have differing overhang and offset angle! Phew!

You could almost think that was an April 1st joke!! As you say, synchronisation is mind boggling. If one grove out it'd screw your brain.

never seen that tonearm before , have a few binaural cds that sound pretty special on good phones
