Musical Fidelity AC-1 Moving Coil Phono Pre-amplifier

Anyone remember this head amp from the early 80s?

I have two of these working well and would like to see if anyone has any information about them. On Vinylengine there was a response that said these sold for about $500 in 1982 based on a listing in an annual buyer's guide were very little information about a unit is printed.

I have contacted Musical Fidelity and they had no recollection of the unit.

Here are some pictures of the secretive black boxes inside the black box. Maybe another case for Bletchley Park along with decoding my Welcome post gear listing.

The black 'boxes' look like potted amplifiers, maybe instrumentation amplifiers from the likes of Burr Brown or similar.

That's my best guess :)

Never seen those before - if they are MF creations I would have thought MF would know about them. Send Indra in MF Sales an email and she could forward that to Anthony Michelson.

One thing that concerns me is the logo on the item in your photo looks wrong for the period.
