Something that gets right up my back is sellers that post records out in the sleeve, you don't do this because the record has a tendency to split through the packet! When you ask for this some sellers either totally ignore your request or can't understand what all the fuss is about..

...and on a related note...

One of the reasons why I mourn the demise of the High Street retailer is that when you buy mail order CDs with “digipack” / card sleeves they often reach you dented, creased and crushed. With a shop what you see becomes yours unmangled. Vinyl albums generally have more robust packaging but it’s still a punt and curly corner syndrome awaits you.

…and don’t get me onto stickers on sleeves whether mail or retail. Umpteen quid for a Deluxe Edition and then it shreds the cover when you carefully remove it…:steam:

Yes that pisses me off right royally - I was recently asked to send back a damaged inner sleeve to get a replacement sent out, so that cost me another couple of quid on top of the cost of a 180g album which I had tried to buy at a good price ...

You know those Deluxe series CDs that used come in a double digipak with a clear plastic slipcase with a grey band at the bottom saying deluxe on it? Like this:

Has anyone else noticed that a lot of them now have that grey band at the bottom as a sticker rather than a slipcase? That really pisses me off. Especially since the sticker is sealed so you either have to cut it or remove it to gain access to the CD.

The slipcase was a nice touch as it protected the digipak nicely while not being visually intrusive. I bought a deluxe copy of Black Sabbath Paranoid and completely trashed it by removing the sticker (a lot of the ink of the artwork came away with the sticker) I was furious! :steam:
