I cant believe it,and cant understand it either.
Last night I put a "wanted" on a certain forum as I was looking for an iphone 4 for sale....I couldent find the post this morning so I thought, maybe I didnt post it at all,so I went in and posted again.
Just went back to that site to find this message when I try to enter:

"You have been banned for the following reason:
Repeated spamming of wanted ad in direct violation of site AUP"

Whats that all about? all Im looking for is an iphone to replace one I ruined accidently belonging to a friend.
very fishy:rolleyes:

By the way:

Anyone got a black mint iphone 4 on o2 or unlocked for sale?...must be not too old

If all you have done is the same as you have done on this forum, that is put ONE brief wanted ad then that is hardly a "Repeated spamming of wanted ad" offence is it?

I'm guessing they were p'd off that the ad was reposted after it had been removed. I find it's always good to notify people when a post is removed so they understand why, and don't repost on the basis that they may have misremembered posting it in the first place, as happened here.

It shows a distinct lack of respect towards the members Nick when someone breaches the AUP (inadvertantly or otherwise) and an immediate ban is preferred to any direct communication with the offender.

Exactly. That's what happened to me. No explanation. Nothing.

That sounds about right....I wasn't aware that it had posted and been removed as I looked into my statistics first before posting the second one and it wasn't showing so I redid it......but why did they remove it in the first place? I've seen other people with wanted iphone posts that weren't removed.
I also find it very rude and unmannerly not to have had at least some explanation, but I guess Im not one of the big naims over there, and Im quite insulted to be accused of spamming and feel like a little boy sent to the naughty step until sometime in Feb. and what makes them think Im actually bothered going back after such discourteous and arrogant behaviour.:steam:

Guys,

Whilst I'm sympathetic of the situation and don't condone the treatment George has received, we need to be careful that this thread doesn't descend into a 'slag Wigwam fest', particularly as I've complained to James today about the comments from some of his members about this forum on the "AOS Malaware warning" thread on Wigwam...

Therefore it would be hypocritical of me to do that and simultaneously allow something rather similar to happen here. I'm sure you can appreciate that, so unless anyone can give me a very good reason not to, I think that closing this thread would be for the best.

Marco.

Although others have mentioned specific fora it would appear that George has not, in which case George is being respectful and fair despite his unjust treatment at the hands of an overzealous mod on the forum in question. I seem to remember a similar fate befalling Gazjam only a few weeks ago and I managed to clear that up with the forum owner. If it is the same forum I am willing to lobby the forum owner on Georges behalf. George, PM if you would like me to intercede ;)

I would never deal with rudeness by being rude myself. Yes,lock away:cool:

Yes, you never did get an explanation from that, did you?

I hate locking threads, unless it is absolutely necessary, so as the vibe seems to be more light-hearted and non-inflammatory, I'll leave it open for now!

Despite being given a contact on the Cyrus Unofficial site and sending a polite request asking why I was banned (and I genuinely am in the dark) I got nowhere. Banned for life apparently.

As well as my main all Cyrus system which I think can fairly be described as 'a reference' system, I have a second all Cyrus system which is not too shabby either. I also have a son who makes Hifi units for Cyrus stuff.

Without wishing to blow my own trumpet I'd have thought I was the sort of person they'd want to contribute.

To say I'm pissed off is an understatement. I'm not the sort of bloke who takes no reply for an answer.

Phew, I feel better for that.

No, not even a pm saying 'you're banned because you're a twat'. I think they mistook me for someone else.

The funniest thing was, after my ban, receiving emails from the forum owner asking me to vote for AVI products in the WTF polls!

Ha - you have to giggle at the irony! Nothing surprises me, though, with the clowns who run that site.

Marco, it was me (alphatoner on wigwam) that started the WAM post. My only intention was to alert members to be careful. If I had known it would end in the type of posts that some made I wouldn't have bothered. (One of the reason I spend more time here now). However, if my OP has caused any aggravation I apologise.

On another forum I moderate on, removed posts are always followed by a PM to the OP explain why. I also dont see what is wrong with a wanted ad.

Hi Ian,

Not at all, mate. The ensuing, rather unfortunate remarks weren't your fault. I just wish some people would grow up, stop holding petty (age-old) grievances, move on and try and keep relations friendly between the three main UK forums.

I really don't think that is too much to ask!

Ian, for me it served the purpose and a excellent way to find out thanks,
i am very wary as i am rather limited if anything should get through and i am shit at computers,
that was my 1st stop when i saw the alert, what i read thereafter was rather surprising to say the least.

There's not enough mods like you thats all i can say, i suffered the same fate as Harry (ISML'mons),
I done nothing wrong, but if mods don't let you know, you have no way of finding out as all functions on the forum is locked.

Thats exactly what I thought, considering Ive seen other want ads for iphones...but they hadn't got the courtesy to tell me or allow any explanation...just slammed the door in my face...A pm or email explaining what I had done wrong would have had me remove the offending(?) post.

Don't you just love V.U. meters!

Here's an output one. Not sure what's playing. Doesn't seem to have much in the way of dynamics, whatever it is.
