Mission say they are no longer available. Anyone have any ideas where to pick up replacement drivers or 2nd hand 773e speakers?
Thanks

ebay is your best bet David unless some kind soul from here can help you out. Have the cones split away from surrounds?

No they look ok but the bass on one sounds a bit farty at higher volume

Firstly David, run a thumb around the interface between the outer edge of the cone and the rubber surround, applying gentle pressure as you do so. These units have a knack for splitting neatly at this location so the splits are easy to miss until one turns the wick up on the amp. That is the worse case scenario however, it may be that the voice coils have dropped a tad and are rubbing. Identify the offending drive unit, remove the screws holding it into the cabinet and then rotate the driver by 180 degrees. Screw it back in and pump some music through it. Nine times out of ten this will fix the problem ;)

I love these little tricks of the trade: I'll give it a go.
Thanks for this Dave

No worries David, let us know how you get on ;)

Hi Dave
Unfortunately it's your worst case scenario - one of the units has split as you described & I'd not spotted it when I looked at them. Back to Ebay I suppose

These (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mission-771-Speakers-Pair-in-Beech-/271142087727?pt=UK_AudioVideoElectronics_HomeAudio HiFi_HiFiSpeakers&hash=item3f2153ec2f) may be worth buying for the good drive unit David, can't see them selling for much in this condition to be honest and it will give you a spare. You could shift the cabs, tweeters (these are no good for your 773's) and crossovers on ebay to make a few quid too ;)

I've been searching ebay, but missed these as I didn't know they were compatible. I'll put a bid in & see how it goes
Thanks a lot for your help.

I have a Mission 77C1 centre speaker no longer needed that has mint drivers in it, you can have it for £65 delivered & sell the carcass & tweeter array on if you wish to regain some cash.

I'm also out & about most days on the M62, for £65 cash I can meet up somewhere like Warrington if you fancy the drive over.

IIRC the bass/mids in the 77c are a slightly different spec to those in the 773's...

Just checked here (http://www.nrpavs.co.nz/pdf/Mission_77_manual.pdf) and apparently it is the same unit in the 77c although one of the two bass/mids is a passive radiator therefore there is only one useful bass/mid in the cab ;)

It is the same speaker, the 77C1 had a metal cover on the magnet to enable it to be used by a TV.

Don't get confused with the 77C & the 77C1 .

The Mission 773e should have 2 bass midrange drivers per speaker with gold phase cones, the 77C1 has the same .

You are bang on Neff, the 77c1 does have two bass/mids. The 77c I used to own looked identical except one of the bass/mids was a passive radiator. There ya go, you learn something new every day ;)

Yes, used to have one myself, even the early 773 had 1 mid bass driver before they upgraded.

Anyway, speaker is here if you want it David.
