hi all , i have recently had trouble with 2 capstan motors matsushita mm-6h2lwk , they both had the dreaded motor squeal ,
anyway after searching on the net this seems a common problem with these motors even though they are used by lots of manufacturers ,
replacement can be very fiddley dependant on the unit they are in, and they are not a cheap motor to replace , so against all advice that i found on the net i powered up the unit , and sprayed servisol switch cleaner and lubricant into the motors , after 20 seconds or so the motors are both running smoothly and quietly with no problems whatsoever ,
i have run them for several hours and they seem fine :)
in my case the unit hasnt been used for about 5 years so i presume the squeal was caused by a build up of corrosion /dust ,
well worth a try before shelling out on a new motor
i presume this would be the same for most motors with squeal,
a word to the wise though do not try this with wd-40 , servisol is non conductive switch cleaner and lubricant so in most cases safe to use in most low voltage applications ,
please note i do not recommend working on electrical items whilst they are live unless you are confident in what you are doing;)
