Newbee just signed up to the forum but have followed it for a while.
So hello from me and here's a little about what makes me tick:
All of my gear is pre owned, Sugden amp, Thorens Table etc all pretty old. I like to freshen them up a bit so I like DIY projects, I'm working on my Tannoy speakers x-over and cabinets at the moment, also building "Hypnotoads" battery powered MC phono stage, modifying a belt drive Turntable based on a ProJect RPM 9 and I would like to get my hands on a Technics sl-1200 to experiment with - I have it Bad!

When it comes to music I like anything that is good of its type, so I will listen to Dave Brubeck one minute and Bjork the next. My mainstay is 60's and 70's rock but I will equally enjoy Nina Simone, Petula Clark or Adele, so not easy to pigeon hole me.
I started collecting vinyl about 18 months ago and have about 250 LP's which are mainly first or very early pressings. I sold off all my original collection in the early 90's in favour of CD - wish I hadn't. I am not polerized on the CD v Vinyl issue and enjoy both, some of the later CD's are damn good.
I just listened/watched Led Zeppelin, Celebration Day, live on Blue Ray and it really Rocks, fantastic kick drum sound. I still like my first vinyl pressing of Zep II though.
I wish the music industry would take up Blue Ray as an Audio medium, but I can't see it happening, its all about convenience and publishing costs now. Downloads and the ease at which you can duplicate the whole of your mates collection, may finish off the dwindeling music industry. Just heard on the news that HMV are in trouble here in the UK. One thing for sure, you can't set up a pressing plant in your spare bedroom.
Well that's me, and where my point of view lies, I am sure to be asking questions about Technics tables soon!
