View Full Version : Interest check on two turntable/arm combinations
Selling on behalf of a friend of mine:
Rega Planar 2
This has a comparatively rare ‘brushed metal’ finish to the deck. Complete with Rega arm (sorry I don’t know the exact model), acrylic lid and a ‘limited mileage’ Ortofon VMS20EC Mk.II. An Audio Technica cartridge (of unknown identity), or it might be a Linn cartridge (K9?), is thrown in for good measure. Asking for £60.
JVC QL70 Direct drive turntable
Complete with plinth and acrylic lid. Comes with an SME 3009/II with S-2R headshell. Asking £250.
I have had a cursory look at both of the items and can confirm they are in very good condition. If there is sufficient interest, some photographs could be supplied.
No packaging available, so collection from near Chelmsford, Essex would be required.

Sometime, back in the 80's, Rega changed from the smooth to the "brushed" finish on the TT's. They ran that for a couple of years.
Rega deck provisionally sold.

Were you interested André? It's not over until the "Fat lady sings".

...in Classifieds, got it in one!
we can of course step across to the audio discussion threads to natter about TTs.:)
Initial interest in the Rega Planar was not followed up, so this deck is still for sale.
The JVC/SME combination is also still for sale.

That Rega is a bargain - the fitted arm is worth the £60 on it's own.
Consider it an RB250 with a free turntable.
Hi Barry - is the SME a pre-Improved Series II or an Improved?

The JVC QL70 Direct drive turntable is a gorgeous vintage dd and was at JVC's top end behind the big daddy and rare QL10. Piccies to drool over would be nice please - We all love piccies anyway :)

+1 :)
I'm not that aux fais with the Victor Co's big DD decks, but I believe the 70 is in a similar vein to the Denons ie a large 'drop in' motor unit which can basically be housed in any suitable plinth. Sweeet. :)
Doing a bit of homework, also seems the 70 is the armless version of the QL-7 (ie the zero was added for those decks without arm).

It's a "pre-Improved Series II" Richard.
It's a "pre-Improved Series II" Richard.
Makes it even better then. :)
I'd be very interested in the QL70 if I didn't already have 7 turntables, including a QL-A7
