View Full Version : 1210 PCB - Methods of intrinsic screening

I'm just beginning to get a few ideas together but I would like some recommendations on how I could intrinsically screen the PCB. My two main ideas are some copper screening and maybe some ferrite coils?? Any ideas welcome.

Hmmm.... seems impossible to do...
You could replace the original black plastic innard cover with a copper one.
Or redesign the pcb (and share it with us) to a double layered one.
What were you planning to do with ferrite coils?

I'm just thinking ideas through at the moment. The ferrite coils were just something is spotted on another post, I thought that they could maybe used on the intrinsic silver wiring I have into the pcb?? With regards to cu shielding, well that's another story, I'd have to have a look around the net and then post some findings here :)

You could re-plinth it and cover the pcb in a shield and use clip on ferrites on the wires.

Get a cheap MC cart, stick it on long wires into a phonostage and use it as a RF sniffer, just poke it about inside the chassis with it powered up and spinning, it'll tell you straight if there is any radiated noise worth dealing with. If you want to see if there is any noise worth shielding from the cart the sensible thing is to sniff it out with a cart.

You'll find this enlightening.

Great idea, but looking at the schematics, you'll see where the board "radiates".
You'd have to make a mini platter to have the motor running while you are sniffing...
