View Full Version : A neighbour you wish would move!?

I think most people have this particular wish at some stage or other? Just before the start of the Christmas holidays a neighbour's house burnt down, no it was not me and a box of matches, strangely enough the kids were nice but their parents were outright slobs. The type that open up a can of bake beans and then chuck the can out into the back yard  this literally did happen on more than one occasion so their next door neighbour told me. The house fire completely gutted the house and part of their next door neighbours house and the fire department put the final touch by, necessarily, having to high pressure hose everything. The place is now, sadly, an eyesore with ruined furnishing dumped on the outside front of house.
Why am I relating all this? TO HAMMER HOME THAT ELECTRICITY IN THE WRONG HANDS IS SO VERY VERY LETHAL AND DANGEROUS!!!!!!
The above man of the house, he who chucks used bake bean cans out of the back door, decided to buy a power shower of the El Cheapo and unknown brand and decided to install it himself inspite of the fact that his only experience with electricity was to turn the telly on or switch the lights on or off. He wired the the power shower switch directly into a 13amp wiring circuit, without fuse protection to boot, switched on and flash bang wallop, he and family were homeless at 10:20am a couple of days before Christmas :stalks::doh:
Does anyone else here have a neighbour they'd wish would move or is it just me being uncharitable?
Living in a detached house, in its own grounds, one tends not to have those problems... ;)
Seriously though, what a careless dim-witted FUCKWIT that guy is!!! :mental: :wanker: I suppose at least no-one was killed....
I'll relate some stories later, from when we lived in Glasgow and had some serious fookwits living next to us......!
Marco.
I've always been luck with neighbours except one wanker who like to do DIY at 7 am in the morning on weekends - (he'd be finished by nine am) fortunately he moved away. Seems to me the posher the area the worse the neighbours are, particularly for moaning about music being played too loud. I always take care to live in slum areas in order to avoid this ;)
I don't get on with any of our neighbours. All Piss artists. and arseholes. Our downstairs neighbour is a Lesbian and I don't paricularly enjoy listening to her and her partner having it off most nights. Upstairs is a complete idiot. Comes in every night about midnight and blasts out music till 2am. Had the cheek to get police out when I had sounds on during the day. I've tried everything to get a new house from council but nothing. One good thing is we have no Junkies.

Oh for the days of inner city living and ghetto blasters, Martin  Or, howza about the young kid next door with his first drum kit and Keith Moon aspirations?

Kinda thinking it may be fun...! Do ya think we could watch 8-)
The 2010 Christmas hols were a nightmare for us and the other residents of our little close. On Boxing day evening the underground electricity cable feeding the street blew a gasket and plunged the entire street into darkness. On top of that, a couple of days before Christmas our gas boiler committed suicide just as our landlord was flying out to India to spend the festive season with his family, and as I am sure you recall, all this during one of the most vicious cold snaps on record. Eon, bless their little hearts, fumbled the ball and left our little community without leccy for nearly three weeks and our gas boiler took even longer to fix. At the time it was traumatic for all concerned, however the Dunkirk spirit set in and the entire community stepped up to the mark, except for our next door neighbour.
Now, this chap lives on his own and he is weird beyond belief. He owns a cat called Cheese; yes, I said CHEESE. He often shouts at this cat late at night for doing things that it could not possibly have done, like moving his glasses for instance. One time we were woken up at just gone three in the morning by him chastising his moggy for leaving the cooker on  Frankly, he is a sandwich short of a picnic. Anyhoo, I digress:
It became apparent as we were all out watching Eon personnel digging up the street at stupid o'clock, that both ourselves and Mister Bonkers next door were the only two households in the street with gas hobs, so doing the neighbourly thing as you do, we kept everyone supplied with hot drinks that evening and made our cooking facilities available to those who were all electric for the duration of the works.
So, what of Mr Bonkers, I hear you ask? He marched out with a steaming cup of hot chocolate on the night the leccy supply went down loudly proclaiming for all to hear that he had working cooking facilities and that the entire street could go take a running jump for all he cared. On top of all that he has recently begun to steal my kids toys out of our garden and letch at my 16 and 18 year old stepdaughters. When I see him next I am going to tear him a new arsehole... :steam:
He sounds like a real team player, Dave
Incidentally it is not beyond belief that the cat could move his glasses or even turn the cooker on. I have known them to move objects around in the past, when I was a kid we had a tom that used to take small items and hide them under the beds. My present cat in his old house used to turn the taps on in the kitchen (they were the lever sort) and the old lady would come back to find the kitchen full of steam.

If he is an alien I wish he'd fook off back to his own planet :eyebrows:
If you are serious about the possible UFO activity I would be very interested to hear about it, either on here or via PM if you would rather. I run a UFO forum so I am interested in such stuff ;)

Dave, I don't discount it but have never taken an active interest either not knowing where to begin. My late, very best mate in Sydney NSW was really into it even to the extent that his wife made him cancel his internet because of the time he was spending on the subject. It buggered up any future Skype video chats. But Colin, my mate, was also a very enthusiastic Ham radio operator and he would have long chats with like minded people from all over the world, Russia in particular. Now, sadly he is gone, and our long distant phone chats are no more but I'm sure he would have reconnected the internet and joined your forum, I was trying to talk his wife around and I'm sure she would dearly love to see him in his radio shed again, but thats life :)

 I thought all aliens wandered around in the nuddy nicking charity clothing bundles off door steps in the erie dead of night
The problem with UFO sightings and the community in general is that there is an awful lot of 'chaff' to sort through to get to the real interesting stuff. It is a constant battle having to deal with zealous believers who see UFO's everywhere as well as those who refuse to see an inch beyond their noses. I have some sympathy with the latter group because it is almost impossible for them to step outside their cosy perception of reality. Fear of the unknown can be a very powerful force.
Rather than clog up this thread I will compile a list of major sightings, all of them backed up by irrefutable evidence such as military radar plots, testimony from military personnel (including high ranking officers from all over the world) and as a taster, one John Callahan, who is a US citizen and whom used to head up the FAA accident investigation bureau. The incident he was involved in can be seen below, I'll leave it to your good selves to make up your own minds:

My (now ex) neighbour would start his motorbike(harley fuckin Davidson) in his garage at 6am to warm it up before he left for work, he wondered why I asked if he could push it down the drive first, he then complained about gravity taking rainwater from my garden into his, no mention of the water running from his into the next garden down, his wife and brat fought constantly at the top of their voices, and I could go on but fortunately they decided they were too good for our little cul d sac and traded the house to Barrett, oh how everyone in the street waved them off on moving day last month. I can sympathize
with all here.

One of our old cats , Leo was very adept at opening the fridge door and helping himself to fresh steak if you please ! He used to just flick it open with his paw lol .
i have one neighbour i wish would move , i live in a small cul-de-sac , at the back of my house there is a small car park with 5 spaces , 2 of them are mine on the deeds to my house which i have bought and paid for, with 2 parking spaces , when i tried to park one day i drove into the car park only to find the neighbours friends in my spaces:steam: , obviously i asked them to move to which came the reply "the people that used to own the house said it was ok to park there" i told them in no uncertain terms that i now owned the house and i also owned the spaces and i was not allowing them to use them , a few months later i drove into the car park (the entrance to which is very narrow between 2 houses) bearing in mind the carpark only has space for 5 cars and there is a 90 degree turn into it , i drove in 1st gear 5mph when the neighbour flew across the bonnet!!! , she had jumped out from behind her garden fence and thrown herself at the car:mental: , i was gobsmacked!! , she then phoned the police and told them i had tried to run her over , absolutely unbelievable, and a good job the police thought so when they came around , if our paths cross now in the car park i ignore her presence totally , this normally gets a reaction of profanities from her ,, it makes me chuckle now when i start my diesel van at 5am and let it tick over for 10 minutes right below her bedroom window:D , my other neighbours have since told me she is a foul mouthed old bag and its not just me ,, quite bizarre as she is about 70 years old.

In my old place (a house turned into flats) the neighbours above us used to be dole scroungers that smoked dope and listened to UB40 all the time.
I didn't mind them so much, but the young couple that lived downstairs frequently (2 or 3 times a week) used to try and kill each other. It would start with shouting, then door slamming, then smashing sounds like they were throwing plates / lamps / furniture around. Before too long we would hear one of them screaming and pleading something like 'Put the knife down', then one of them would storm off and the other one would cry and howl loudly for an hour or so.
This could happen at any time, day or night. Not fun.
Now I live in a nice house and the worst we get is kids kicking their balls into the garden or the chap next door revving his chavvy car.
Compared to the last place, I couldn't give a toss. On the plus side, neither at this place or the last did anyone complain about me playing music all the time. I'm usually pretty considerate though :)

Do you mean photographs Marco? Actually what we really want is photographs of the Lesbian couple, mentioned in post 4, "getting off". :eyebrows:
On second thoughts - no we don't: this is an audio forum, tape recordings would be better.

My old downstairs neighbour single handedly destroyed my hobby, she would start so muh crap over a pin dropping, she turned me into someone who was afraid to even flush the chain, now she's passed away, it was a totally different story, the present downstairs neighbour was a nightmare party party party till 4am at weekends, naturally i put pay to that straight away..
Now i'm back to the original scenario where im afraid to make a sound for the fear of tit for tat :steam: i hate people so much.

John, do you have the means to record what you hear and get a rap artist to overdub and put the finished result on YouTube? You could charge for downloads and the end result could be very rhythmic and profitable? Your record label could be called, (wait for it :)) 'Blue balls productions'.

:steam: What is it with people, now the upstairs neighbour starting, in & out of the living room like he's got a bad dose of the shits, why does he keep slamming the doors every time he enters/leaves the room! Why does he even have to close the door?.. Any hoots i clobbered him yesterday told him it's absolutly not on & appologised to me, what did i get all day today, you guess the doors again which basically tells me he aint gonna play the game.. Anyway no one gets a second chance with me.
I understand neighbours have to live together, people have to clean up, decorate even a bit of DIY now & then, that's unavoidable noise but there are also people that are totally disrespectfull.
I'm seriously thinking about living in a caravan.

I was trying to understand this.
Golden showers went out in the 90's when hep B and C and Aids hit San Fransico really hard.
Lol... It's just a term here for a very powerful electric shower. The one's up from your standard jobbies that have loads of presssure. They're just the job for blowing off that baked-in crud on your balls - ya gets me? :eyebrows:

I don't think we have those here, a pressure washer for your balls, now thst's living!
Funny that I've just seen this thread, in the last hour I've had to give my tennants (downstairs flat) notive to leave after only two weeks. They don't work, rattle around all night and just have no idea of fitting into a home. Had a gutful of them. Strangely they are quite nice to talk to, but utterly clueless.

On my wooden doors I have placed some felt furniture pads on the door frames. Reduce the slamming to a minimum.
http://www.installerstore.com/Protective-Felt-Pads-Equinox.html
There are also specialized door dampeners if that is needed:

I have African's next door
They are compulsive door slammers that never seem to sit down it starts at about 7am and ends at 1.00am
They also have a 2 year old girl who either cry's or screams the hous down all day
I asked the gent of the house " have you a problem with one of your doors ? " and was told " Yes its hard to close " I replied it would be nice if you can get it fixed
5 months later its still the same
So
I HAVE NO PROBLEM RUNNING MY HI FI AT ENJOYABLE LEVELS :lol:;) Blocks out all the noise and gives me more listening time

Now if the French adapted the 'power shower' element for their bidets that would give you a certain uplifting feeling to the start of your day, would it not :stalks:
Sometimes it is a good idea to have a calm discussion before going ballistic when you live near people behaving antisocially. Some people have no idea that their actions are having an impact on you, and will respond positively if you don't appear at their door foaming at the mouth, having been 'brewing up' for ages.
If they don't appear to care, then the gloves can come off. I live next door to a house full of students, and from time to time the music, partying and noise really got out of hand. Following a series of high-level complaints to the letting agents and the university, they were told that would be kicked out from their course if they continued to behave like that. They now tow the line, and I have had other students thank me for intervening!. It turned out that most of the other tenants living in the house hated the people causing the noise as much as I did.
