Hello fellow audiophiles.

My name is Gilbert and I live in Montreal, Canada. The AoS forum is an incredible source of knowledge and I visit it quite often, especially the analog section.

I get back into the hobby 5 years ago after an eclipse of 15 years and develop a growing addiction to vinyl since that time. I’ve first restored my old Connoisseur BD2A to its original condition with the help of Technical & General. After that, I bougth a nice Thorens TD125 and restored it completely. Then a Thorens TD124, then a Garrard 301 that I’m still working on.

I listen to Jazz mainly. I also like world beat, folk music, some classic rock and la chanson française.

My current systems (audio and audio-video) are:

Turntables: Thorens TD124 MK1 with Jelco SA-750D tonearm and Denon 103r in alu body, Thorens TD125 with SME 3009 Imp S2 with Shure V15 III, Garrard 301 grease bearing (restoration in progress).
Phono: PS Audio GCPH, Furutech GT40.
Integrated amps: Blue Circle BmPH, Leben 300XS, Anthem i225.
Digital transports: PS Audio Perfectwave Transport, CEC TL3N (belt drive), Oppo BD95.
DAC: Blue Circle BC505, Rega DAC.
Speakers: Harbeth Compact 7ES-3, JM Reynaud Trente.

Welcome to AoS, Bert. How do you find the Perfectwave transport? Will you be getting the matching DAC?

Martin, the Perfectwave Transport is very very good. As good is my belt drive (analog sounding) CEC transport, the PS Audio is superior, more organic, I would say. I don't think one can get better transport, may be expensive Audio Note gears. No doubt, memory player is the way to go. The only problem with the PWT is the operating noise (I don't know if it's due to a fan or the computer like drive itself).

Regarding the PW DAC, I don't plan to get it for now because my Blue Circle BC505 is very good. DACs are one of Gilbert Yeung specialities (he's the owner and designer of Blue Circle, a small canadian company based in Ontario). The PWT with the BC505 via AES/EBU is a perfect match. It replaces Rega Apollo/Rega DAC combo that I used to like, but not in the same league (not the same money either).
