Alignment tool

I purchased a Technics alignment tool to help make cartridge setup easier and to reduce setup paranoia, only to find that the supplied Jelco headshell doesn't work with the alignment tools because of an additional locational lug on the headshell :doh:

Anybody have recommendations for a decent headshell to replace the standard fit Jelco one? :)

Theres a protractor that include Baerwald, Loefgren and Stevenson does anyone know what it's called?

Hello there,
You don't want to ditch the Jelco two-pin headshell just because of a simple alignment gauge problem.

Easy fix - two minutes with a nail-file will cut you a slot for the second pin in the Technics overhang gauge. Precision not needed - just clearance, the original slot will do the precision bit.

I had thought about making a slot in the gauge - I'll give that a go. Thanks for the tip.

I'm not at all surprised to find out that Jelco make the Sumiko headshells - the fingerlift shape gives it away ;)

I've not seen one with all three geometries on, but I have had a sheltered life :eyebrows:

I did find this whilst having a Google around http://www.enjoythemusic.com/freestuff.htm which looks to be a decent tool, especially with not moving the protractor when checking alignment.

That's weird i printed that bottom rectangular one off last month to set me up temp loike..

Smart move, and a good tip, Angus! Just watch the mass, Chris. You may find that your Sumiko is even happier in a much lighter headshell... :)
