Cambridge Audio Pacific Interconnect

Any one had experience of these modest interconnects. I've had them doing duty in my system for years and love them. I recently swapped them out for QED Quinex Silver Spiral interconnects to match my silver Spiral Speaker cable as way of an 'upgrade'. From the offset I found something was lost, particularly a distinct loss PRAT, musicallity in doing so - synergy ? too much of a good thing ? either way as soon as I put the Pacifics back in it all came back immediately. I've always felt these were great interconnects, punching above their weight at a modest £30 at the time of release, a tad bright maybe ? (suits me over a overly neutral presentation bordering on lacking a bit of air / sparkle) but detailed and insightful. Thank God I didn't get rid before installing the Spirals :eek: :) - Happy New Year !

Yep I have a pair of them - bright yellow - they are currently out on loan. I did use them for line level connection to a sub as they are 1 metre long. I always found them a bit 'thuddy' in the bass, that is with a fairly wide range of kit too. Not a major gripe just something I always kept noticing. As with all cables it's a question of matching the horse to the course.

There the ones Martin, early version yellow, later ones a more discrete silvery grey. I hadn't noticed thuddy bass but listening to some tunes it's the thud of the bass / kick drum that is audible, in my system on certain tunes it's slightly 'subby' strangly enough now you mention it :eyebrows: Since fitting the Soundcare Superspikes to my floor standers bass in my system is very tuneful. Your right though it's matching the horse with the cart etc as on paper (and price) the Silver Spirals are or should be a few notches above the Pacifics. It's clear though that price guarantees nothing in this game as other system factors ultimately dictate at the end of the day ;)

The QED cable will be quite high inductance due to the construction. Worth checking the specs to see how they differ.

Hi Simon, what does high inductance mean / result in ? sorry to be thick. Secondly, spec for these cables tends to show % of copper / silver etc more than anything else.
