Bl**dy h*ll Andre', that's quite a list!! :stalks:.
I think I could live without any of my 100s of CDs and LPs but I know what you mean :) . I mainly listen to PC tracks with the play order set to 'random' as I enjoy that more than gorgeing myself on on Artist/Group. There are a few exceptions to that rule though, Sinatra being the main one.
I hope you continue to find others to add to your list :) .

If you were to filter through your collection, what albums couldnt you live without?

I started rating my albums a few months ago on a similar quest. Don't have enough time to listen to the good ones often enough so the not so good ones have to get out of the way.
Below 5 needs to be sold. 5 Could be sold
6 and above is kept and the higher I go the more often I want (have) to play them.
Helps with all sorts and I now re rate some when I come around to them.
Nowhere near as many as you have
Lot there I don't know, lot I agree with and a lot I don't agree with !
:)

Hi Dave
I was just going through CD's choosing the ones i want to replace for Vinyl, that's how the list came about, ive already let around 300CD's go last month that im just not botered about,i had a good few thousand Prog/Psych CD's at one point, i sold quite a lot through AOS last years.. the rest can stay in a box out the way when i get the vinyl replacement..

Quicker to list the stuff I could live without! Not a massive amount actually as in the past I have rarely had the money to buy records willy-nilly. Maybe 100 albums I could sell or give away and never miss.

[QUOTE=Rare Bird;396758]If you were to filter through your collection, what albums couldnt you live without?

Hi Andre

That's a hell of a list. I looked down it and only knew one of the albums (Gentle Giant - Octopus). It is generally reckoned (in my circle) that if it was written in the last 200 years I will not know anything about it which is a slight exageration but only slight. I've obviously lived a very sheltered life!

Hi Dave

I totally agree on Sinatra albums particularly the early stereos on Capitol and the very early Reprise Albums.

Have you tried any of the Sinatra Mofi albums. If not they are superb. The only one I would not recommend is For Only the Lonely the Mofi version of which is in mono. The album was recorded in stereo and is one of his very best so I cannot understand why they chose to issue it in Mono unless the 1958 tapes had degraded.

David :)

Hi David,
Sorry for the delayed response but I'm embarrassed to say that I had no idea what 'MoFi' meant so I did a bit of Googleing. Based on what I found I DL'd the MoFi version of 'Sinatra at the Sands with Count Basie' and I'm very glad I did :) . I've just done a little listening tonight and I like what I'm hearing, so thanks for the pointer.
Cheers,
Dave.

Wow. That list makes me feel like I'm now in a different world. Remember seeing Atomic Rooster when I was a lad. Brilliant. Also saw Caravan and I think I may have seen Beggars Opera but I'm not entirely sure.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Haven't got any of them in my collection but its got me itching to wear loon pants and moccasins again. Cheers.
