Hi, I think I've got the dubious pleasure of fitting a Roksan Nima to a mates 1210, is it a simple drop in with a Rega spec board?

From old memories here, I think you have to watch the counterweight doesn't foul the top plate. A taller mat (or two mats one on the other) should easily fix it, as long as you can use the lid when not in use..

Also watch out for the phono-tags as they always felt a bit delicate, when putting on a cart and taking one off. The one cable unbroken the whole way through the arm tube sounds best, so an early Nima is better than a later one as there is a join in the cable with newer ones.

The arm will also need balanced in the left to right sideways plane - the case with all unipivots - very carefully as well. The orientation of the counterweight to left or right - its an oval shape - sets this. You must set this arm up on a totally flat surface - so the 1210 must be completely level, if its not the set up will be off. Look along the arm from the front of the cart to see if the arm is correctly balanced.

Overall a nice arm.

Some photos of the finished set up would be nice to see + sonic impressions as well.

Thanks for the reply's, there's already std + Funk mat, so it sounds like the hight is ok.


Does the arm mess up the lid? Its usually removed whilst playing, but with little hands (and the Misses' duster) its best replaced

I'm using the Nima on my 401, think its great. The light airiness matches the bass weight. I've got Mk1, and Mk2 and its nice to see the development improvements (counter weight bolted in/transit screw) although they sound the same to me :-)

I never had enough time to really get to know the Nima well, but since I had loads of setups with its distant ancestor (Mayware Formula 4, with which it shares much basic DNA I feel), I sort of have an affinity with it :)

We finally fitted the Nima to Andy's 1210 last night. Reasonably simple job following in Youtube vids.

Well, the Origin Live arm board is nicely made, although the Rega hole is slightly bigger than the Nima's arm post.

The result, looks really good, I do prefer a straight arm tube. But its the sound that matters . We weren't disappointed, I really like what unipivots do, (I've got another on my own Garrard) they add air and delicacy . From my POV, its brought the Techy close to the 401 in detail retrieval, perhaps not the low registers of bass, or the boogie /hustle , but I would say that.

Looking forward to side by side listening.
