Anyone up for a Diet club in 2013 ?
Being somewhat over weight each year I say I am going to try and reduce my bulk :)
I am fine with the diet until its time to eat
Normally loose motivation quit quickly doing the diet on my own
So if as a AOS group we could all get together share tips and food suggestions it may work
I am looking to shed 2 stone over the year and keep it off so not going flat out
then maybe in 2014 set another target
So if anyone is up for it let me know ;)

I found 'My fitness pal' a good free site to join. personally I'm not into the forum side but the database is a very good way to track your exact calorie intake and inform you of changes you can make to reduce eating the fattier foods.
It is also a good way to track your weight.
It worked for me as I have lost 4 1/2 stone in 5 months. I was a portly 17st 7lbs now I'm 13st. More importantly my blood pressure has returned to normal so everything is looking up
My target is 12st 7lbs so only 7lbs to go...:yay:
I'm sure of one thing. I'm never ever going back to fatty land.

I do need to keep an eye on my diet but for another reason. My cholesterol check three weeks ago came back at 7.4 which I am told is dreadful so no cheese at all for the last three weeks and its killing me. I love fine cheeses and fine curry preferably home made. What's a boy supposed to do...???

I don't eat cheese myself but have you tried chewing on an old sock?

I certainly wouldn't connect a vintage Wensleydale with an old sock at any time. Some of that disgusting French shite maybe but not good old British cheeses.

All cheeses are socks to me...:spew:

I'm with Dave, i lost as much as he through general calorie counting & excersize in the form of walking..There's obviously other factors to take into acount when dieting but if a club helps why not.
If you have time and love for one , get a dog that needs proper walks.
Weight loss guaranteed :carrot:

I have lost a bit by giving up nice puddings and having low fat Greek yoghurt with a few pieces of apricot or peaches. 5 minutes a night on the exercise bike as well. I would like to loose a few inches off the waist though......

For me it was a permanent lifestyle change and not just a diet. One which I'm so glad I started and feel so much better for it.
It's hard at first but has become the norm now so no big hardship keeping it up...:)

Now let me state that I am by no means an expert but the last 5 months have taught me something.
Exercise is good but it shouldn't be your first priority
Calorie intake is the most important thing...!!!
You can walk the dog for 4 hours or sweat buckets in the gym for an hour to burn off a single potato. It's much easier not to eat that potato in the first place.
I have lost over 4 1/2 stone in 5 months without any exercise at all...!!!
That's why I mentioned the web site in my first post. You can input with great accuracy what you are eating and make the necessary changes. If your total calorie intake is over 1900 a day (for a man) you will remain the same. Less and you will loose.
It's worth bearing in mind the average pint of beer is around 200 calories...!!!
Foods I cut out were - Potatos, Pasta, rice, any pudding and pretty much all alcohol.
Foods in were - Vegetables, salad and tortilla rolls instead of bread sandwidges. Of course there were variations and I do have a few beers everynow and then.
Good luck...

Dave i rashened myself to 100g of either Pasta or Rice with my Tea. Ate steamed fish & chicken, veg & Peppers mainly. You must have carbs or you will have little energy. Just be careful with carbs if not exersizing. If i got pecky Fruit like apple or satsoomahs. Brekkie is important too.
You have to take into account your Age/Height/Present weight/sex & if your an active or none active lifestyle to work out you calorie allowence.. This will change slightly as you loose weight..

Indeed Andre I did have some fruit now and then. Also when I'm not working (whenever that may be ) I have a piece of grilled chicken or fish with a hugh mound of steamed veggies. Truly lovely.
A couple of useful by products of dieting are -
Less money on food. I spend less than £2 a day.
I appreiciate the taste of food a lot more than I used to.
You poo a lot less and it's firmer therefore you use less toilet paper.
You can pull on your socks without dancing all over the floor.
Downside is that you have to buy new clothes which are expensive....
I forgot to mention my diet was undertaken with the consent of my Doctor. So no need to worry...:)
Well up for that...
Been healthy eating since Novemeber.
Lost just over a stone, was 14st when i started now now 'bout 12 3/4ish, not bad for 7 weeks without torturing myself.
Want to get back to my fighting weight of 11.5/12 stone, got a bit lazy and saggy round the middle.
After a blood pressure and cholesterol "tap on the shoulder" by a visit to the docs and after seeing THIS:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-19112549
I do alternate day fasting, which works great for me.
600 or so calories every second day, eat normally (and importantly dont worry about it) and use the car less for short journeys.
The fantastic thing is that on my "feast" days I don't feel the need to pig out or feel as though I am missing out if i dont scoff a yard of chocolate!
Try to get 20mins or so walking a day.
Seems to be working, roll on 12 stone!

Trouble with dieting it costs a fortune buying new cloths all the time..
My wardrobe consists of one pair of Jeans for best, one pair for work. Six T Shirts for work, a couple sex god shirts for best..It's not very brainy buying more till im satisfied.

Wish I could put weight on, but with all the gym work I just seem to stay at my muscle packed twelve and a half stone, at least I've still got an 'eight pack'! I must admit I've stopped doing my old party trick of lifting engines out of cars on my own.
(just joking) (some of it anyway, I used to do the engine bit)

No Shane, no gym these days, got far too lazy. I've been meaning to start working out again though. I seem to get in good toned up shape rapidly despite my age. Must be the ridiculous amount of training I did years ago still standing me in good stead. My weight just seems to stay around 12 stone give or take a few pounds either way. I'm probably heavy for 5'6" tall though.
