I am eagerly awaiting arrival of my Dl S1 cartridge, and although I have a Lentec head amp to use as a stop gap, I have been looking for a suitable sut to use long term. To this end I placed a wanted ad at HiFi for sale. I've had a reply from Spain offering me a Denon AU-300LC for 200 euros including shipping and insurance, he wants payment either by bank transfer or money gram. My problem is that I am loathe to send money to someone I don't know is legit (I got a couple of other replies that looked decidedly dodgy). I would prefer to buy on ebay where you have some protection or here where people know each other. I'm going to stall him until after christmas, so if anyone here has, in the meantime, a similar sut they are willing to sell, please let me know.
Many thanks
Steve

Buy one from the guy below in Japan. Brand new and cheaper too. He is absolutely trustworthy and has some great gear.

Yes, I've been looking at that one, works out about the same when you allow for customs duty etc. Definitely an option.
Thanks

The denon is a top top cartridge and would cost a fortune if made by one of the more "exclusive" manufacturers.

I have mine running into a Leema Agena phono stage with great results but I too feel the SUT itch. I want to try the AU-S1 which was made specifically for the cart.

If anyone has one I would absolutely love a demo before I take any yen based plunge.

Damned right... It's a £2-3k cartridge in all but price tag! :exactly:

Now, I wonder who gave you that brilliant idea? :eyebrows:

I've tried the AU-S1, I've tried the Hashimoto HM-7's, and I've tried alot else, but the Luxman 8020 silver wire SUT is making my DL-S1 sing like the others can't.

You can find these SUT's with their AD8000 adapters routinely on ebay through 2Juki and Foxtan.

Good luck with that awesome cartridge!

My DL S1 arrived yesterday, and not having the ideal step up, I was unsure what to expect. I certainly didn't expect this cartridge along with the humble Lentek to completely trounce the Lyra Audionote combination, after all it's not even run in yet.
Straight out of the box, no tweaking, tracking at 1.3 gms and 1.25 anti skate, tight deep bass, shimmering highs, a deep wide soundstage with plenty of air between instruments giving complete coherence to the music.
I was intending to buy an Au-300LC to partner it and upgrade later, but on first impressions I think I'll stick with the Lentek until I can afford to buy an AU-S1.
Reading other posts I was expecting the Lentek to sound dead and grainy but not so through my Crofts.
I'm gobsmacked, goodness only knows what it'll do when run in. Best £500 I've spent for years.
