Does anybody know what these two buttons do on the MK5g ?? I know it is something for dj's. As mine is most certainly not for dj'ing which of the two buttons should be engaged for normal use ?

For normal use the reset button should be pressed and the green light should be on for locking it Ive read elsewhere where some preferred the opposite or the quartz locking turned off

Hi Robbie - I believe that the +-8/16% button doubles or halves the effect of the pitch slider at its maximum and minimum extremes.
A standard Tech 1210 pitch slider has a maximum plus or minus effect on the speed of the record of 8%. This feature on the mk5 allows you to double that percentage, and therefore speed up or slow down your tunes by double the amount.
This can indeed be useful for DJs beatmatching records with very different tempos, but in your case I would imagine you'd be better off with the lowest value (eg 8%) selected, and the slider left in the central position so that the quartz lock is engaged, and your records will play at their 'normal' speed, just as nature intended!

PS the Reset button engages the quartz lock when pressed, so you want to have that on to keep the turntable locked to 'normal' speed.
