Not using my Arcam CD73T

Well its been a while since I posted here as i took to playing my guitar again. My Arcam CD73T has not been used since getting a sonos ZP90 and streaming FLAC to it. I compared the two using the analogue output and the Arcam was slightly warmer but not necessarily better or not as precise sounding if that makes sense.

Im considering selling the CD73T and buying an Arcam dac or similar priced unit but something seems to be stopping me. One fact being its hard to value it. Any ideas what its worth guys. Its not had a lot of use since Arcam replaced it under warranty a few years ago.

Is it just me but with all this ease of music access is the temptation to flick tracks more just too hard to resist:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Someone mentioned to me that the Sonos is limited to 16Bit/44.1KHz. I have no idea if that is correct though. If it is however, then you might as well sell the Sonos and CD player and get yourself a media streamer that can handle more than just 16/44.1 if you have FLAC files of varying bitrates and frequencies.

All my files are CD's ripped to FLAC apart from the odd Amazon download when its cheap. I dont see Higher resolution Flacs readily available even now that I would want to listen to other than to marvel at the sound quality. I would love to think this will change but somehow doubt the likes of Newton Faulkner, Linkin Park, John Mayer etc will ever have their music available in anything better than CD quality. I hope Im wrong though.

Handmade By Robots is a decently produced album on CD anyway, at least it sounds damn fine on my system :)

His latest CD is great as well. SQ is not as good perhaps in places but its a decent 3rd album follow up.

Sonos is limited to 16Bit/44.1KHz.
In stock form that's correct Stan, there are upgrades to improve the Sonos, but they are limited as far as I know and you cannot play 24/96, 24/176.2 or 24/192 files;

You also have the file limit of 65,000 - not likely to be reached by most people, but if you have a large library it could be a consideration.

That was collection only which is never a good way to get a high price.

A good listing with delivery for about £12.00 might get a bit of a bidding frenzy or try a buy it now with a high price on a 30 day listing and see what happens as it can always be reduced.

IIRC Paul I paid about 70 quid for my CD72 but it was missing it's remote control. I've seen this model go for well over a ton when accompanied with it's original box and documentation so I would expect your CD73T to fetch considerably more, perhaps 200+ on a good day, depending on condition of course. Now is not the time to sell it though, if you can hold out until February or March it is likely to fetch a decent price.

Im in no rush. I might just plug it in again ( currently using a Ra yello mains lead into the Sonos). My father in law has a 72t the difference is mine is notably warmer in presentation. I was lucky enough to have a fault with my first one which came back from Arcam still skipping occasionally and on second time they sent a whole new 73t :champagne: back which has never missed a beat.
