I've often found myself nodding or shaking my head at HP's writings in The Absolute Sound, but I've never been bored by them. He says it eloquently, and I particularly like his description of music as:

an affirmation of all that is good about our species
Sadly, the people who need to read this article the most (not just Americans) will never see it.
