Failure.

Just been watching BBC Sports Personality of the Year and the thought occurred to me that, in this new era of no one being put off for life by being told that they have failed at anything, did we ought to make such a big fuss of the winners in the running for this award? The many many people who think they did well by winning two silvers or something at the Olympics, or winning the Premiership, or the European Cup, etc. etc. etc. may be subject to the awful risk of thinking they are failures for not even getting nominated and may spend the rest of their lives living in a cave and avoiding contact with other human beings :lol:

Dave, I guess the awards are to acknowledge the prowess and many years of hard slog to get the accolade of TOP athlete, but it won't stop the world going around if this sort of show was not around.

To me the Sports personality of the year beats the 'Hi Fi Awards that the Magazines fill their pages with come every December issue and the whole country have not voted for these, just a hand full of journos, me thinks, but then again there are bods out there who like 'em. To each his/her own I say :)
