Hi,

After listing, and removing after much deliberation..... I have finally decided I am going to sell this - not for lack of sound quality (it sounds stunning!) but because a) my original plan was to save money going the 1210 route which clearly didn't happen, and b) it just doesn't quite look as stunning as some other decks....

So I am going for an RPM 10.1 to A) save some money as I should get some change.... and B) it looks stunning and has full wife approval! :)

It just arrived so need to find a new home - hopefully someone looking at the 1210 upgrade path will be very happy :)

DETAILS :

The 1210 was new in 2010 and is in perfect condition.

The Mike new bearing (which is regarded by all as the best you can buy) and the Timetsep HE external power supply (which is regarded by some as the best you can buy - were both installed at this time.

I added the isonoe feet / SDS iso feet, upgraded arm and KAB damper, had the platter modified by Inspire hifi (a stunning solution with a very heavy 10mm slab of alluminium machined and bonded to the UNDERSIDE of the platter - so no VTA issues, and you keep the look of the original platter, you keep the finger lift holes, you keep the strobe dots, and you keep a lot of money compared to MIKE NEW / FUNK options)

Used carefully and sparingly by the original owner from new (a lovely old vicar according to sound hifi who installed the psu - (address on the box is the old vicarage concurs! ;)

The deck is basically mint... pitch control barely touched... has original box and manuals. The lid has a small scratch at the back that you wouldnt notice unless someone pointed it out.

Cost of upgrades = £200 platter modification / £500 Mike New bearing installed / £500 Timestep psu installed / £100 isonoe feet / £40 SDS isofeet / £85 audio origami rewire and tube shrinkwrap / £80 kab tonearm damper / record weight £30 / matt acrylic 1210 mat £25 / Timestep SME armboard £85 (it was originally fiited with SME so the base already had the bigger hole cutout as well so installing a new arm will be a doddle) ..... Total over £1600

Plus new 1210.... £1000+ these days?

Looking for £1300 for the package....hopefully someone will be interested in getting a ready to use super 1210 without any of the hassles of ordering and installing all the seperate parts?

OR I WILL SPLIT AS FOLLOWS IN A WHILE IF NO ONE GRABS THE LOT, or if someone takes the first option the rest is up for grabs....

£1100 for deck with Mike New bearing, Timestep HE PSU, Inspire upgraded platter, and SME Armboard
£90 for AO rewired tonearm and base (full assembly to drop in) with shrinkwrapped armtube..
£50 KAB Damper
£70 Isonoes
£25 SDS Squares
£20 record weight
£15 1210 acrylic mat

UPDATE 20 December:

Arm, damper and upgraded platter now sold (replaced with Mint stock platter)

Sorry for anyone who asked for the KAB damper but someone wanted the arm, damper and platter as a set which works out well for me....

£1000 ono for the 1210 with lid, with timestep he psu, sme armboard, mike new bearing, isonoe feet, acrylic 1210 mat, and record weight

Pics below. Doesnt show the KAB tonearm damper will take an extra pic if yo need.......

I still have the original plastic cover which goes under the standard platter but it needs to be removed for the Inspire upgrade....

In brighton for viewing / listening / tea and biscuits....

Kind regards
Jamie

If stun backs out on the damper, I'll take it ;)

Requests duly noted :)

I may let the arm and Damper go early - as I guess its pretty common for high end decks like this to sell without arm....

I am surprised we have not heard more on AoS about the Inspire HiFi platter mod, it would seem to be the ideal solution for those who wish to keep their Techies looking stock, as I do. Two hundred quid won't break the bank either. It may be the perfect compliment for a Vantage Audio bearing (The Mike New item is way over my budget), that's if I am ever able to source one as it would seem that VA may have gone out of business :(

+1 Dave.

The MN is way over my ££ limit too, sadly. :(

Yeah it was a surprise to me - I was chatting to him about the possibility of a few deck options.... and I mentioned the 1210 and he does a hell of a lot of work on them (I got my first one from him with an Ittok and Isonoes about 5 years ago I think...)

But as he now focusses so much time on his full decks (Eclipse, Enigma, Monarch) - he doesn't really promote the 1210 work he does, so maybe not many people have it, or have heard of it.

Anyway - tis indeed a great solution :)

Happy for sensible offers on the main 1210 package of course :)

Also if someone wants to swap the inspire upgraded platter for their stock one i would be happy to do this for £140 (60 less than upgrading yours)

:)

I am happy to take your offer on the upgraded platter swap plus the AO rewired tonearm if you decide to split obviously.

thanks

Just to say, I paid a visit to Jamie last night to collect the Technics arm and Platter, and I can confirm the deck is immaculate (a rare occasion with SL1210) and all the upgrades are top notch quality! All with original package as far as could see!
I wish I had the money to get the whole package!
Thank you Jamie for the warm welcome and the wine!
Merry Christmas!
