My simple and neat system. Sounds excellent to me.

Quad 33 / 303 Pre - Power

Rogers - LS7 Speakers

Rega Planer 2 with RB250 and Ortofon LM 20

Cables - Cable Talk 3 speaker cable / Cable Talk Interconnect.

One small comment - the bolts holding the cartridge are upside down. Common mistake and makes no difference to the sound but if the bolts are right way up, the nuts are held in place by the headshell groove allowing you to tighten using one hand and not cause any damage to the headshell.

Looks good - I like the Rogers they are great speakers, much better than modern stuff. Never was keen on the 33 pre-amp though, although I am guessing you have modded it.

The 33 is OK, never set the world alight but it's such a beautiful piece of great, functional design. I just love 'em together with the 303 and FM3 as an iconic system. Or is it just me..:scratch:

I have never heard the Rogers LS/7s. Describe their sound and what you like about them.

Hi

There discribed as the LS3/5a but with an extra octave bass. They produce a wonderfull clean crisp sound with a light subtle bass. They have been in my set up since 2008. I have had various different speakers in this time but i always go back to these. There there to produce music. There original retail price for a pair was £250. I have had various different amplifiers from a leak ST 20 to quad 34 / 306 and my current 33 - 303. They are 200 watts into 8 ohms. I use them at a listening level of 3 :). I cant see me changing them anytime soon i have become to attached to them. They are not overly big but big enough to produce that BBC sound. They make a bad recording sound good. They suit from Rock to Classical they excell in all genres. What i like is that there also designed for the BBC. I'm not sure if any were used in the studio's

stop messing about and get hifidave to sort you out with a pair of SHL5's,
then call of the search for speakers and concentrate whats going on upstream,
the Harbs will tell you whats shite upstream in a nice BBC way. ;):)

Excellent buddy. I would put that stand right there should be allen key bolts to tighten them otherwise it would be a painful smash.

I have had exports etc but sold them without thinking.

I have stopped worrying about speaks now, and am concentrating on the quality of what I'm feeding them from further up the line - from a recently purchased, my first, decent record deck, experimentation with computers, and in due course, I hope, very, very good digitally replayed DSD needle drops.

Too right about the Rogers LS7s also: I acquired a pair of those a few months ago, after an arduous set of exchanges involving Harbeths that I didn't keep in the end, and I couldn't agree more with what you say. They're gorgeous.

Thanks for your post. I should of kept them thinking about it. They were MINT but needs must. The LS7's have been in my main set up for 5 years each time they play music that's it. I really do love them like part of the family.

IAS Ashurst Speakers: They arrived last week from lancs. The speakon connectors have arrived. Hooked them up running them up very low. First impressions very musical Bass slam is nice and tight. Controlled Treble.

I've heard that before Dave. I don't suppose it matters either way really, but I always put cartridge mounting bolts in from above, unless, as happens occasionally the cartridge body is a bit wide and pushes the nuts outwards. Some supplied nuts can be a bit wide and also not fit into the recess on some headshells above the overhang adjusting slots.

Very Nice thaey are dynamic treble and bass is controlled without boom they are MINT and are BOXED. They are 5 star award winners and i can see why i do very much like them.

Just a little update on this thread..

Im using a Nad 3130 with a Parasound Zamp V.3 with and Teac LS 8XMK2 as an experiment for the time being the result is a nice detailed sound. just a demo so far will later try them with my rogers and mission 770's in my main set up will report of the thread in time.

Also an ideal candidate for the cheap as chips challenge

I almost pulled the trigger on a Zamp on ebay a couple of months ago. I don't know why I didn't really as Parasound amps have a well deserved reputation for sounding fabulous. My loss I suppose. The QUAD 306 I currently own is a funky little amp though and it works very well with my DM2's. Who knows, curiosity might get the better of me some time in the future :)
