Speaker project anyone!????

I got these for the 2nd system. Sold to me as working but on arrival i discovered both tweeters were open circuit!! The are untidy as you can see and although 1 speaker looks ok, the other will need the edges and centre dougnuts replacing.
They do work but clearly not as they should!!!

Anyway, there are metal tweeters available from KEF for about £120 and the speaker repair kit for these is about £40 on ebay. The cases could do with a rub down and refinish......other than that these are like new!!!!

Free to a good home as I have lost interest...collection from Near Wantage approx 15 miles S/W of oxford!!

Mark, you have a PM!
Dan, if Mark doesnt want them for any reason, you can have them

The history is I paid for them but then kicked up a stink as the description omitted the fact that both tweeters were knackered and the seller just refunded me. They owe me nothing and I'd rather they went for someone to potentially restore rather than break for a few quid as spares!

I did speak to KEF and although the original tweeters are no longer available, there are metal equivalents from a higher spec model that are available. I ran them with external focal car tweeters for a bit but they were far too sensitive and the sound was unbalanced. Obviously that wont be the case with KEF replacements.

I quite fancy getting them up and running. Reckon they are prettier than my DM2's.

Time to start looking for the Kube to go with these if you are going to restore them ;) You do have seperate pre & power amps from what I remember, the Kube just sits between them & is obviously capable of being bypassed.

20Hz -6dB if I remember correctly...

Have fun :D

Foams are available from goodhifi and via ebay..

Hard to find, but sometimes the tweeters come up - just have to find out what they are. Not too difficult to change out - have to take the front baffle off and then remove something on the back of the driver. Don't remove the driver though cos I think it uses the baffle as the basket (so the cone surround is stuck to it).

Actually the drive must come out on these, prise off the plastic cover - was thinking of some Kef 105/3s

I think they are NT25 SP1353's. They are used in some of the Q series.

The tweeters can be removed from the main drivers. They are bolted in from the back.

I can't remember the model number I got from KEF for replacement metal tweeters by I think the helpful lady I spoke to was pat????

I seem to recall its the same tweeter used in one of the ceiling speakers.

Lovely pair of speakers. Cheers Ian.

Now just got to find some tweeters.

Then I'll have a go at diy refoaming.

Sorry, it was most excellent to meet you too. Love the workshop. I think I need one of them.
Will be in touch at some point to discuss regs.
