I've been lurking here for a while and thought I might contribute sometime. I just checked my account and am amazed to find I hadn't posted or introduced myself yet. No idea when I activated the account!

Anyway my name is Carl and I'm currently residing in Tokyo. A rather big music and hifi theme park and my personal heaven!

My system in Japan currently consists of.

Technics SL1000mkII (an SP10mkII in SH-B3 plinth)
Oyaide MJ-12 mat and STB-HW weight
Jelco SA-750lb 12" tonearm
Ortofon SPU Royal G mkII cartridge (this week at any rate..)
Phasetech T1 SUT and Slee Revelation phono
Macbook Pro/Puremusic/Audiophilleo1 for files
Cyrus XTSE2+/PSX-R CD transport
Cyrus DAC X+/PSX-R
Marantz PM15 integrated amp from the early 90's. A heavyweight symphony of copper on the inside!
Stax SRM-T1 and SR-007 Omega II headphones
Tannoy Glenair 15 speakers and ST-200 supertweeters

I also have a 'love me long time' Pink Triangle Anniversary/SME IV/Koetsu Rosewood Signature and an real early LP12/Basik/Nagaoka MP500 that are enjoyed from time to time.

In the UK it's kind of the remnants I didn't bring to Japan and a load of work in progress turntables.

Mainly the TT is a Lenco 88 in a heavy ply plinth with twin Jelco SA-370h tonearms.
LFD MC1 phono stage
Macbook Air/Puremusic/NAS/Arcam R-DAC for digital
WAD 6550 valve amp
Proac Response 3 or Tablette 50 Signatures

Work in progress and stalled while I have adventures abroad are a slate PTP Lenco, Thorens TD150, Lenco L75s for mono, TD320/FR64fx, and an unusual specced up LP12 in the works. There are countless other tonearms, SUTs and cartridges knocking about too.

I think thats about it. I'm a bit of a gear hoarder and have had loads and loads of turntables, tonearms, cartridges and phono stages through my system. As you can imagine, vinyl is my thing and the makes up the majority of my listening hours.

cheers
Carl

Music wise I listen to a wide diet of Rock, Pop, Jazz, Blues, Folk, Classical, Any era, any genre is game.

I have a penchant for old singers like Ella Fitgerald, Sarah Vaughan and Peggy Lee.

Jazz is obviously Blue Notey stuff where most people start. Usual suspects of Davis, Coltrane, Blakey and many many others.

Classical wise I love the English composers like Elgar, Delius and especially Finzi, particularly Cello concertos. I likes a bit of Mahler on full belt from time to time too.

Rock will have me playing anything from AC/DC and Neil Young to the Kings of Leon.

Electonica has been in my DNA from years gone by. Aphex Twin, Kraftwerk to modern stuff like Hot Chip.

Pop would be say Depeche Mode to Elbow.

Country I like only occaisionally. People like Ryan Adams, The Cowboy Junkies and Laura Cantrell.

Blues wise I've been enjoying a lot of Etta James recently.

But I mostly love to listen to girly singer songwriters from Joni to Rumer.

I dunno, loads of stuff. Music is a massive lifelong adventure isn't it?
