One on my favourite speakers of all time used to be the venerable B&W 801 it it's various guises. That was until today. Having visited a fellow AOS forumee this very afternoon (6th December) i have become a total Usher convert. Having previously owned an original pair of 801's and regular access to a pair of Nautilus 801's i was aware of certain faults that were lovingly forgivable. Having listened to Mr Lemon's Usher B10's today was an absolute joy. they give me everything from the overall sound that the 801's did minus the over-smooth bass and dry mid range. The Usher B 10's are a music machine of the highest order. As i am considering the purchase of Dancer Mini 2's i was really pleased to get to hear the B 10's in a home situation which is a scaled up version of both the speakers i am planning on and the room i intend to use them in. Thanks so much Harry for the invite and taking time out of your day to play a few tunes and chew the cud. It is great to put a face to a fellow AOS member too. Lets sort a North East bake off Harry?:)

Great to see you Steve. Glad you enjoyed the Ushers. I thoroughly enjoyed the Craic.

Nice one, Steve and Harry. The Ushers are indeed superb music machines and I'm always glad to hear of another convert to these sadly under-appreciated speakers. However, they do make great conversation pieces, often started by a gasp when they are first seen. The talking usually stops as soon as the music starts :)

Yeh, Glasgow, that's why there's a picture with 'Wisconsin' written on it behind them on the wall...

Engage brain before promoting an obvious scam sale on Gumtree ;-)

Ok guys, let's cool it. Anyone can make a mistake.

I really don't see why a poster / picture with an American state on it, means that it is a scam.

I'm not saying it isn't, but anyone can have a pic with anywhere in the world on it and it doesn't mean they are scammers.

I did try and look at the plug in one pic though, but can't make out if its an American one or not.

Anyway, if the seller is legit he would be happy to do a cash on collection, and if he doesn't , then you would know it was a scam, but not on the basis of a picture!

# Added, the plug does look American...........might still be an explainable reason though......?

I've also sent the seller an e mail asking if they can be viewed before purchase!
Stay tuned!

If he's selling those speakers at that price I'll have them even though I've already got some. My Discovery is at the ready for a cash and collect.

The plug and the aircon unit do look American and yes,Wisconsin is in America but it is jumping to conclusions to assume it is a scam just from that. I've got a picture of Anfield on my wall would you assume I live in Liverpool just from that? I've also got a Lord of the Rings poster but I'm not in Middle-earth either...

Had a reply!

He says he will send them to me, but gave me his post code, which is KA25 7HQ, North Ayrshire. The average price of a property here is only 5 times the cost of the speakers he's "selling" RRP that is

I replied asking if I could hear and see them first, and also queried the apparent American power socket!

Just offer him cash and say you'll drive up on Sunday to collect them. See what he says to that.

Done that just now, since the first reply there has been nothing!

I did bother to contact the seller before highlighting that it was an obvious scam post.

To be honest anyone linking to a sale on Gumtree like this without checking the facts can't think much of the people he shares the forum with.

(Never mind his potty mouth PM to me) tut tut...

Thankfully, no. That is one surly cat!

He does look magnificent, though ....

He claims to be travelling with work, but they will be delivered fully insured!
I replied, OK, but asked about the American power socket, and then asked what amp and cable he used, and did they need toe in?
I wonder what his answer to that will be!:D

I reported it to Gumtree, they agreed with our thoughts, big time scam, ad removed and "Dan" banned!

You surely don't mean let that be the last warning to forum viewers about scams for expensive gear on Gumtree do you??

Have posts been deleted and I've missed a heated slagging match?

Unfortunately too many are scammed - someone who bought something from me earlier this year had been scammed via a Gumtree ad, for a rare Micro Seiki deck. Ironically, I'd pointed out on another forum that an ad for the very same thing looked very much like a scam and did the same as icehockeyboy to show everyone - if only he'd seen THAT post instead of my classified ad (well, seen both as he was pleased with whatever it was he bought from me).

No, I think it's referring to the post by SQ225917' who seems to have been a tad sarcastic about the earlier post pointing out the Gumtree ad.

Ah, well.. I always asume that people come across differently to how they intend on a forums (only sometimes to find I was too naive).

Yes, and that I was practically aiding and abetting the scam by posting it.

I was also accused of disrespecting other forum members for posting the link. I didn’t read the ad, I just posted it after seeing the heading and reading of certain members’ interest in Usher speakers. Needless to say I took exception to his comments.

I thought I was being a boy scout when it appears I was actually a low rent scumbag. :)

Not at all - warnings about scam postings are very much appreciated. Personal attacks because someone hadn't realised it might be a scam aren't.
