Yummy, this is a very nice sounding CD player!

But, before we go any further, the remote control doesn't seem to work.
Everything else is hunky dory, though. :)

Nope, I can't recall the eBay seller I got this from. Someone who does these mods based in Scotland, I think. No, not 10 Audio. :nono:

Anyhow -- some pix.

This would seem to be the added valve stage. Two ecc82 / 12AU7 valves.

Here's more general views of the innards

And finally, a view of the top panel - not mint, but quite clean

Comments / thoughts on the valve stage implementation are welcome. :)

This excels at small/medium scale music - much like EE Minimax CDP and DAC.
Yes, it can play BIG music, but there's other kit around that does it better, imho.

Bloody hell, you should hear this on female vocals.

Jake / lordmortlock had this on longish term loan. I shall invite him to make some brutally honest comments.

Oh yeah the price - £200 plus delivery, please.

Hi Jerry, check the switch on the back of the player. There is an option for the system bus remote. Quite often its just a case of moving the switch and the remote will start working.

Aha! - thanks for that.

But sadly, no, the switch on the back doesn't make any difference. :(

Have you got batteries in it? :)

I imagine the main board was taken out to solder on the wires so perhaps some of the cables could do with re-seating? Bit a wild guess - I'd start with the large ribbon cable.

I remember seeing that seller's valve output stages with installation on eBay - very neatly done!

Doh! - now why didn't I think of that?!

Still available. :)

Still here! Bloody hell - -this happily trounces the likes of an Audiolab player/DAC on small/medium scale music, imho.
So much more in-the-room presence and palpability.

No remote, though.
BUMP !
