Dave Brubeck RIP

Just heard the sad news of Dave Brubeck's passing.

It was Brubeck who 'sold' jazz to a white American audience. Before him, jazz was widely regarded as being only of interest to black audiences.

His LP 'Take Five' released in 1959, along with Miles Davis's 'Kind of Blue', Charles Mingus's 'Ah Um' and Ornette Coleman's 'Shape of Jazz to Come', also released that year, helped to make jazz become more mainstream.

RIP Dave.

Very sad news, heard it first on BBC Radio 4 yesterday.
My very first LP vinyl purchase was his quartet's 'Jazz Goes to College' in my late teen years, still have this copy, just listen to the track 'Le Souk' if you have this album. My parents were very tolerant of my love of Jazz even though my mum was more of a pop fan, Cliff Richard would you believe :rolleyes: !

Dave Brubeck your music still lives on in my Vinyl and cd collection, keep swinging it with Paul Desmond RIP and thanks.
