Elbow boxset

Hi, Just finished working my way thru this boxset and its a 10/10 from me:)
seven fantastic double 45 rpm albums plus a memory stick. The pressings are amazingly quiet totally flat and shiney:) the sleaves are excellent and the box is nice also the mem stick is a nice touch . for £90 this is a xmas list must .

Elbow are just simply wonderful music makers. I heard one track a couple of years back (Mirrorball I think it was) and went out and bought five albums. They're all brilliant; clever, engaging, beautifully constructed language and they sound great too. I must get all their other stuff.

I didnt understand all the fuss when after being around for a few years elbow came to mainstream prominence with the 'seldom seen kid'. Then I found myself in a field at a festival and they came on, totally engaged the crowd and reflected their northen warmth right through the place. After that I was hooked and when they released 'Build a rocket' I rushed straight out to buy it. Mirrorball and Lippy Kids are two tracks which depending on my mood have been known to get my normally stiff up lip a-quivering!

The box set is must have it seems and i'll bet you are enjoying it.

Oh yes, Lippy Kids is simply enchanting. Every time I listen to it I immediately recall spending time as a school pupil with my best mate Andrew (who's still my best mate twenty four years later) outside his house playing on the 'mound' with a few of the girls who lived in the close. I can almost taste the atmosphere and that feeling of limitless time and indestructibility. I could have done anything with my life, it was all ahead of me then, it's half way behind me now but I can still remember feeling that feeling.

Great song, shame more music isn't as carefully thought out. :)

Like the music but I just can't get on with the guys voice. It's similar to the guy from Doves. A matter of taste I suppose.

I was going to suggest Elbow's store on Universal music but it looks like it's sold out:doh:.It's now £160 on Amazon.

I would bite the bullet and buy it now before the price goes through the roof.

Too bad as I only paid £100. Well worth it just for the early albums I didn't have. Just wished it had been announced a few weeks earlier before I bought Dead In The Boot. It's a realy nice and well pressed package. Certainly worth £160 if you don't have most of the Elbow catalogue on vinyl. Elbow are a contrast with some other top bands in their dedication to good sound quality and the vinyl format. BTW the page on Universal disappeared well before the first copies were received by Amazon.

Luckly I ordered it (from Universal) at the end of November after I saw them at the NIA in Birmingham.
I haven't opened it yet.My family bought it.me for Christmas.

Keep an eye on ebay.There isn't one on at the moment.I had a look at the 'complete listings' and they seem to be going for around £120.

By the way.I've just played 'Leaders of the free world' and 'live at Abbey Road'.Brillant!Great sound and excellent pressings.
