View Full Version : Origin Live mat?
Anyone had a play with one of these? I have it on good authority that it can be used on top of the OEM mat. This is a good thing as I've found in the past that setting correct vta, if using a Sumiko shell in particular, is nigh on impossible as it puts the cartridge in a higher position relative to the standard arm's armtube, even with the vta adjuster set hard against its lowest setting.
For 40 or so quid it's got to be worth a go.

I was thinking of trying this one too.
I've modded my 1210 OEM mat by cutting a little "hole" 'round the bottom corner of the mat to make it sit perfectly inside the lip of the platter.
I was then thinking of placing that OL mat on top of it.
Haven't just purchased it yet.
I'm looking forward to hear your experiences, Richard.

Yes - I used one for a while - they had (?have) 2 mats the "hard" and "soft" - and you could use the one on top of the other. It worked well on my Origin Live Aurora - I dabbled with it on the Technics but felt the Herbies at that time was "better" then moved to the Achromat (better still) now I use the acrylic cones from the Resomat (better better still) direct on top of the Vantage platter and for me that is the best. Dont ask me to specify the differences or what I mean by best as its a long while since I went through the process :mental:
FWIW I have an Achromat and Resomat for the SL-1210 in perfect nick gathering dust ;)
