Hello from Italy

Hi,
I am an Italian audiophile. I realized only recently that a computer can produce high quality music. I am now using my old MacMini G4 as a music server, sending the music to an Airport Express, connected to my faithful Rotel RA 820 BX that drives my B&W CDM2.
I like acoustic music, mainly guitar (country, bluegrass, blues, jazz...) as playing guitar is another passion of mine.
I'm getting lot of info by this forum, thanks guys !

Hi Sandro, welcome to the forum :) Strange as it may seem I have also taken up the streaming thing fairly recently & have been shocked by the results :D I have some FLAC streaming as I type...

I know what you mean, I'm banishing mp3 and restreaming all my old CDs to Apple lossless :D

You could try AIFF instead of ALAC, which is the equivalent of WAV. In other words it's the same as the original file on the CD ;)

Now while most people will tell you that FLAC & WAV sound the same, I don't think they do :eyebrows:

I have a few downloads from the web of both WAV & FLAC files of the same music from the same source, to my ears the WAV files are superior.

I'm not going to get beaten up by it though, as all apart from a couple of albums have been free. I'm just lucky that the type of music I tend to listen to is available legally for free in large quantities.
