Can anyone tell me if the origin live encounter would be a suitable match for the 1210?

To be used with an ortofon 2m black for now.

Hi Jamie,
I can't answer your question personally, but the encounter is a superb arm that has some great reviews, and an arm that i personally aspire to. Origin Live sell a modded techie 1210 with their own mods, so i'm sure if you contacted Mark Baker at Origin Live, he should be able to give you the info you need.

I use an Encounter on a Technics SL1210. Tis a very good combination, I really like the twin pivot design. I have used various carts with it, Goldring 1042, Shure M97EX, Cartridgeman mark three, Cartridgeman Classic, London Jubilee, and the London Pro. So it should work with your chosen cart.

Thanks guys..... may go for an old audio note arm 2 (modded rega) in the end..... comes with an IQ1 cart which seems like a good buy at 400....

Decisions decisions.....

Although I've never heard a deck with one of their own arms, the Encounter (and its OL siblings) does come with a solid reputation for great sound. I see OL now do a wider range of 'non-Rega' arms, starting at £295, which opens up one's options further. Certainly tempted as a possible option for an arm change on my 1210.

The only thing I really couldn't get on with though was the OL Technics armboard. Trying to get accurate azimuth on a non-adjustable-azimuth arm (a fully modded AO RB251 in my case) was a friggin' nightmare.

Agreed, it's a right royal pain in the rear, same goes for VTA too, even with spacers/adjusters.
