Just had a reply from the seller :)
I've since moved back to st peter port and took this with me you can still pick it up if you want although the ferry won't be cheap I edited the item wrong and didn't update the location I forgot awfully sorry
Now that's convenient in a week the seller forgot they were moving to Guernsey :scratch:
Now what to do ???
Tell him your auntie lives they and she will pick it up next week.

As far as I am aware, ebay sales are a legally binding contract.
He stated postal rates and as such you could take it up with ebay.
Have just done a rough price on interparcel.
uk to guernsey £16 at 18kg 40cmx40x30 dim.
Do a bit of searching of services from guernsey to uk then send him the link.

Just had a reply from the seller :)

Even paying his postage its cheap....its all very fine quoting him the postage costs,but he has to get boxes and pack etc. and wait in for couriers.
I had a problem with an amp I sold collection only....the buyer talked me in to posting it and I agreed,but when I quoted £24 for next day courier+ insurance(genuine quote) he freaked out and insisted I use my hermes for £7.99 and I refused...he then went on to rant and rave about me making money on postage and also left me the worst negative feedback....thankfully one phone call to Ebay had it removed and he got a warning for abusive messages and feedback..
Also forget all that stuff about legally binding etc etc. ...he has given you the option to still pick up if you want,if the item has an "accident" he can cancel the sale...I personally wouldent be bothered to go to all that trouble,packing etc. for 99p but on the other hand I never,ever,list an item for less than Ill take for it.
How much were you willing to pay for it?....give the guy a break,he was pretty naive to not know that ebay is full of sharks spending their time looking for stuff to get for buttons...jeez,if he was switched on he would know that if thats a metal reel on it is worth more than 99p:cool:

It's not Al's fault that no-one else bid for the machine. Him winning an auction for 99p does not make him a shark.
If you don't like the way an auction works, then sell elsewhere, otherwise take steps to ensure the final price is one acceptable to you, like taking the option to use a reserve price or a starting price of your choice.
i'm not sure what Al was willing to pay for it is particularly relevant now the sale is over. it could have gone for £100 or it could have gone for 1p - it went for 1p, that's what happens in an auction. the seller could have tried to sell it on gumtree or in his local paper for fixed amount but he chose ebay perhaps for the biggest audience, perhaps he thought people would go mad for it. note the old chestnut 'vintage' in capitals. win some you lose some.

Hold on , he has 274 feedbacks and a ebay seller for 2 years
He started the auction at £0.01 with no reserve !
I was the only bidder and won the auction
If he tried to cheap out on paying a reserve fee its down to him, as you say if you want £50 minimum put a £50 reserve on it , SIMPLE

in theory , yes , but the "contract" can easily be broken , they can simply say , i was packaging it up , dropped it , its f@cked , so no longer saleable , wait couplr of months relist , you object stating the obvious , they say i had 2 , 1 was for spares :scratch: you can't win if the seller takes the hump , and ebay do not care so long as ehe fees are paid

My mistake and apologies to Al as I didn't phrase it properly,and Im sure Al is not a shark,but has an eye for a bargain nevertheless,like most of us,but Im sure most people will understand what I mean... its obvious that the guy is trying to get out of taking 99p for it for collection in Guernsey.What I would say is that despite the postage,and if it is working,its still a bargain.As I said in the post,I never list anything for less than Im willing to take for it....I made that mistake once...and only once..
Oh,and by the way...the seller can easily get out of it by insisting that you pay his postage as he hasn't given "collection" as an option so he can easily cancel the sale by telling ebay "myself and buyer disagreed over terms" at the end of the day, if he doesent want to part with it,you cant really force him.

Not sure how £30 is cheap postage.
The player probably weighs 15-20 Kilos and to pack it properly to prevent damage and insure it from Guernsey would probably cost that much with a decent courier.

I thought I'd never used them, but just this morning a coat I'd ordered for my dad arrived and I noticed that the courier was Hermes. The driver was using his own car to make the delivery - a beat-up old Rover that was crammed full of parcels (leaving just about enough space for him to squeeze into the car - how he could see to drive safely I don't know?).
So I guess this is how they operate - self-employed drivers picking up parcels from regional depots in their own vehicles and delivering them on.
Jeez... Sometimes paying a little more makes sense!

Hemes are not recommended on anything you value. Their chief executive pays herself something like £3 million a year and the self employed drivers are lucky to get 45p a package. Never seen the same delivery driver twice on the unfortunate occasions when I've been sent a package via Herpes.

Your all missing the point that he aint gonna put himself out for 99p, nor will he want anyone else to have it for 99p.
Problem No.1 imho 'Reserves' insertion fees are too expensive,
I should point out that after the disastrous publicity My Hermes received as a result of the Watchdog program and several others, they have since changed their operating structure. They will no longer ship electrical items and concentrate mainly on shipping low weight, less valuable items. To keep costs down they use sub-contracted, self-employed people who do indeed use their own vehicles. Delivery times have suffered as a result but this does mean they are now one of the most competitive options for delivering small parcels if you are not in a hurry. Typical delivery time is three to four days. I still haven't forgiven them for destroying my Celestion County's however... :steam:
