Mark grant G2000HD or chord anthem 2 interconnects what would you pick
MG every time :)
ANY retailer bought interconnect from the bigger specialist makers will incur a humungous margin for the dealer. Please bear this in mind. In any event, a standard MG HD1000 for around £50 will out-perform an Anthem IMO. Apologies to the other cable makers here, I don't know them..

The chord anthem 2 interconnect walks all over the MG HD1000 I have just compared them. Is the MG G 2000HD much better !!!
They are indeed, William (the superior plugs used produce a significant sonic improvement), however whether you'll prefer the G2000HDs to the Anthems is down to a number of factors, not least of which is what YOUR ears (and system) dictate sounds best!
Mark does a 30-day money back guarantee, so why not try some and see what you think. You can't really lose :)

Buy the Mark Grants. Hopefully you won't like them and you can sell them cheaply to me cos I need another pair.

MG's.... Bosh!
I've tried numerous Chords but they always seem over priced for what you get out of them. They seem to mostly aim at and flick the switches of the hifi type masses and less of the listener type. A little too much style over substance in the affordable range imo. The expensive jobbies are very sweet but then you pay for it even more.
The G2000HD's are very good... If you can splash out then try them with the Ag WBT or Eichmans. Although the Cu's are bloody good too.

Late reply, but the Chord cables hype everything, the MG HD wire doesn't. Compared to a hyped wire, a neutral one may sound bland at first, but persevere and go back and see what happens. Been there and done it, recently too :)

I have tried quite a few interconnects recently, I must admit I really appreciate what MG's do, I have the 1500's and they sound rich and full. I also rate NVA ssp's very highly.
I'm still waiting on mark sending the G2000HD looking forward to it
I reckon we need another bake-off. The one that introduced the HD wires was at the "My *** Speakers'" chap's place and marco took along a prototype I remember. The rest is history :)
Surprising result but the Rega Couple's sounded better than the my 2000's(Cu) in my all Rega system.
Not night and day or any of that nonsense, you just missed something when the Rega's were taken out.
Synergy at play mibbay?
Yup, there's no doubt that a small company, such as Rega, who specialise in producing high-quality audio equipment in small quantities, aimed at enthusiasts, would take into account the sonic characteristics of their chosen cables, when 'voicing' their equipment within the context of a complete Rega system, hence the resulting sonic synergy :)
It's an entirely logical thing to do. Linn and Naim have been doing the same, with their stuff, somewhat successfully for years!
Marco.

Sorry, Dave, you've lost me there... Are you talking about the MAD do that happened in London a few years ago?

But Marco, we all know cables don't make one jot of difference :-)
I'll get me coat . . .

Yeah and all CD players/DACs sound the same. After all, they are only counting digits, ones and zeros, doing the maths. They are all perfect..

Hehehehe... Aye, and then the alarm went off!! :ner:
Marco.
Marco, I did mean the MAD one (my memory is frazzled more than ever these days...)
The Rega Couple interconnect uses a very well known (and fairly expensive off the drum by coax cable standards... around £1.50 per metre from Studiospares) "guitar" cable with extremely low capacitance. This cable (Klotz La Grange/AC110) is proud to publish its specs for all to see, has no foo whatsoever and is well respected in the pro world, as is the two-core mic cable they make, which I haven't tried as yet.
The HD1500 I use from pre to amps seemed to take a little while to "calm down" which it did long ago. Conversely, the Klotz I use for the headphone D-60 was a bit too restrained and "comfortable" sounding when first made up (Neutrik Pro phono's to neutrik 1/4" jacks), but I'm convinced it's "come good" over the first months of use and now sounds little different from the MG's which are feeding the speaker power amps.
All subjective and will be dismissed by certain quarters, but it's their loss IMO ;)

I was using the Chord Anthem (MK I) between my LP12 & Uphorik.I've recently upgraded to the Urika. The Anthem was 0.5 metres,so it was to short. You get a pair of Linn 'Silver' interconnects with the Urika so I tried afew different cables with my ikemi.
I use the VDH First Ultimate (MK I) for my ikemi.I tried the Anthem & two pairs of Nordost Red Dawn (MK I & MK II).
I found the Nordost cables to do alot right.Vocals were more defind, drums to have more attack & there was better bass.Although these were all improved I found the over all presentation too bright for my tastes.I tried the Anthem against the First Ultimate and found everything sounded 'right' with the VDH.
Maybe its just what I'm used to but I sold the Anthem acouple of weeks ago.

Mmmmmm. Maybe get a humour test ;-) Harry
The Linn Silver is nice in a musical and "fruity" way. price retail is daft though. Don't like many VDH and Nordost wires though as they scream "character added and *some* music removed" at me. The VDH carbon-loaded wires are really odd, often removing subtle dynamics and making brushed cymbals for example sound monotonic, where the best jazz drummers playing live can almost play tunes with two brush-sticks and a couple of cymbals.
