View Full Version : Techie rewire
Any suggestions on a good cable to use to rewire the techie?
I've already done the arm, now I want to put something better between the TT and phono stage.
Thanks, Ian

Yep, that's what I used on mine with a set of Neutrik Profi plugs.
Van Damme cable (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130518582779?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_1741wt_960)
ordered a couple of meters, cheers!!
Any other suggestions? dont mind trying something more expensive to compare???

It's cheap Ian but it does sound a lot better than the standard leads. :eyebrows:
As per Dave's (DSJR) advice, attach the screen for each to the plug end.
OK, i'll give that a go. Thats the same approach as the VDH D102's, Balanced cable with screen at 1 end only.
I was thinking about using the screen for the earth connection, but I'll try this 1st :D

If you wanted to do this, why use balanced cable in the first place?
You'll be paying with more capacitance...
(not that this would matter on the DL-103)

Sorry, wasn't particularly clear. I didn't mean for the signal earth. I was thinking to use the balanced for the connections from the cartridge and the shield possibly in place of the earth tag.
Why would this not matter with a 103 out of curiosity?
I wouldn't bring the earth tag "close" to the signal wires, you never know what gets injected in the signal that way.
The 103 has low inductance, relatively low impedance, I loaded it up with 1nF, to see if theory correlated with the real world. Guess what, no difference, well, one friend claimed that is sounded better that way, but I couldn't say.
btw, this experiment was conducted with my 103R, I don't have a 103.
Ok, I'll can that idea and keep it well separated :D
