Flac converting

Can anyone help me.
Ive paid for a down load but it come up as a flac file.
Tried using Bigasoft Audio Converter. its converted it but cut loads of the track away. Can anyone help me find a converter that doesn't cut down the length of the track when converting.

A good, free tool is available from:

It is however, not for the meek, or computer audio challenged... :)
This is mostly due to that it is a command line utility, but if you read the help it'll be alright! I actually works very well though when you have your command line figured out.

Mediamonkey will do it.

Why not just stick with the flac files and use a player that will pay them?

Absolutely,Media Monkey will play most types of file and if you want to burn a CD for the car will convert it to the right format for you.....

The free version is pretty much fully functional as well

Foobar converts too though it takes a few mins to work out how to do it. Right click on the album and setup a few options.

Hey Callum,

The most simple option that I have seen is the new dbpoweramp converter. I have it running on my machine at this moment. It will convert all sorts of file types and while the product does cost money, you can get it on a trial period for free.

+1 for DB Poweramp. I used the trail version to convert about 300Gb of FLAC rips to medium resolution MP3 for my wifes ipod. Took ages but it worked and I could import all the mp3s into itunes for her without issue.

Thank you for all the info. Found a converter copied into iTunes. It's come up as 192.000 KHz 9216 KBPS And A whopping 5.0GB is this the HDCD format?
If i click on info it does say 24bit

Sounds more like 24 bit 192KHz sampling frequency to me. The thing is it's rather a waste of time & space..

If you want to convert from FLAC back to CD then you need 16 bit 44.1KHz sampling, you should end up with a bit rate of 1411kbps ;)

Well unless you happen to have a £10K upscaler doing the conversion it'll sound the same.

But if better is taking up less space, IE not wasting it, then I'd say yes :eyebrows:

FLAC is "Free Lossless Audio Codec" & nothing to do with Apple.

The Apple equivalent I believe is ALAC, I'll let you guess what the 'A' stands for :lol:

it down loaded as a flac but wouldn't copy into iTunes i used a converter then copied into iTunes.
