Just received her "Aerial" album and I can recommend it to any other "Bushies" out there.

Stupendously good recording quality.

Some real gems in the mix, including "Pi". Only Kate could make singing about 3.141592654..... interesting!

Not averse to a bit of Bush myself :eyebrows:

Presume you got the horrendously expensive vinyl? Apparently there have been quite a few problems with the vinyl version but sounds like you got a good 'un ...

Well I'm definitely a Bushy, but I hate this album with a passion - which just goes to reinforce that everybody's different!

Wow...a "marmite" album it appears!

I love it. Calming, humorous (whether intentional or not), crazy but its almost worth buying for the production values alone.

Got the CD as it happens and I struggle to find consistently good CD recordings, but KB seems to be one of those artists who are very fussy about this.

There was quite a dialogue a while back about this album, with most stating how much they hate it. Personally I think its terrific and the washing machine song in particular is a masterpiece.

Sadly I don't feel that same way about 50 words for snow. 50 words for shit more like. ;)

I'm with you there. I love the album. I can see why some wouldn't but lyrics aside, there's a lot to like about some of the sounds that come from the speakers with aerial. Different to the Led Zep I was playing beforehand though!

I love it, but then I don't think I dislike anything KB has done, 50 Words could have been better though and the 'autotune' in that leaves me cold.

It would have been much better if it hadn't been released at all :eyebrows:

I wasn't aware of the widespread hatred for 50 Words For Snow. It's got a few duff tracks by KB standards but is still very good. Ariel on the other hand is a masterpiece especialy the second disc (vinyl) which is a whole concept album on it's own that competes with anything PF released.

BTW beware paying big bucks for the Ariel vinyl as it took 3 copies from Amazon for me to mix and match 2 good discs. It's widely known to be a poor pressing run. Unfortunately there are too many ignorant buyers who can pay daft asking prices for out of print titles.

Ariel on the other hand is a masterpiece

Oh God, I suppose this means I'll have to have my annual play of it to once again try and convince myself that a dirge about a washing machine is indeed real music... <sigh> ;)

Sing along with us Alex: "Washing machine... Washing machine... Washing <pause> Ma-chiiiine."

Well, it has been about 18 months (http://theartofsound.net/forum/showthread.php?p=215517#post215517) so maybe it is time to pour molten lead in my ears again...

I actualy think you are probably focusing on the weakest track Alex. The second half of the album is superb.

You could be right, Paul. I played the first CD last night and up until *that* point it was better than I remembered, so I'll give CD2 a go later... :)

To anyone who feels strong negative feelings towards either of the aforementioned Kate Bush records, let me offer you the opportunity to free yourself: you can post any unwanted KB material to me.

PM me for postal details!! :ner:
