Gold for sure because it doesn't tarnish.

I would advise staying clear of anything made of brass, even if it's plated with gold or silver. Copper is best, IME.
+1 (with bells on)! :exactly:

Gold/silver plated copper.
Even I would think twice at buying these £325 a pair!

Pure silver is the best but for a binding post is too soft, copper is 2nd, gold 3rd, so gold plated copper in theory would be best, 100's to choose from.
Take a look here, Nakamichi plug. (http://www.nakamichiplug.com/product-0539B24.html)

I looked at those when I was upgrading the binding posts on my Lockwoods, and briefly thought it, but was put off by the fact that they'd just look *so* wrong on vintage 1960s speakers! :nono:
Therefore, I went for these ones from Cardas, which are IMO one of the best (sensibly priced) options on the market: http://www.cardas.com/content.php?area=oem&pagestring2=&pagestring=+(closeup)&content_id=11&part_id=65
I use them too, on my valve amp, where, aesthetically, they're really at home :)
Marco.
How much we're they Marco?
Thanks, Richard

I like these for general use- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=281021341334
Or these when they are bought for me. They lock onto the plugs. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-pairs-CMC-Speaker-Binding-Post-878L-SE-Lock-Function-/320688447341?pt=US_Amplifier_Parts_Components&hash=item4aaa855f6d
Best deal,go for it.

My suggestions for relatively affortable copper binding posts:
Eichmann CablePods - tellurium copper, low mass. These were factory-installed on my old Lehenan ML1 speakers.
Cardas solid copper - the plain copper versions are factory-installed on my current Focus Audio FS68s.
CMC 858-S-CU-R - solid copper - I've used these on amplifiers with much success. Definitely solid copper - not brass like the cheaper versions
GaoFei binding posts from A&B Systems in Hong Kong - now, these appear to be brass which is thickly-plated in red copper, but heck, the build quality on these suckers is sensational. They are Furutech clones, and VERY good ones at that!

+1 pure copper if you can afford them, not the best conductor but certainly better than nickel or brass.
