HELP! 60mm bolts needed

Does anyone know where I can buy x4 60mm length (2 shank diameter) bolts ?? Its to mount a SME3012 on a 55mm thick plinth I've just made.

2 shank diameter! Getting a thin bolt for the SME bedplate that long is doubtfull, why not try locate some nice chrome crosshead domed woodscrews, they used to screw them down back then.

I agree that you would do better by fitting screws instead of bolts.
The bolt size would be M2.5 x 60mm pan head.

I managed to track down a pack of 3mm shank 60mm for £1.99 so problem solved!! It looked like I might have to get the old tap and die set out and make some myself. Thanks guys anyway. :cool:

If it's a help, 2 shank is closest to M1.6 in the more usual bolt parlence.

A quick search finds you some up to 16mm... a bit short!

Why not use some threaded inserts instead? No need to have to go all the way through the plinth.. A manufactured turntable wouldn't - bolts sticking out the bottom would look too Heath Robinson.

Reading the replies that got in there whilst I was looking on the internet, perhaps I misunderstood what 2 shank means... and then the only conversion table I found and glanced at quickly was talking about shank area of 2 for M1.6 ... :D

Still, more often than not and if you know the terminology, searching the internet is quicker than getting a helpful reply on a forum!

Just want to advertise that the best screw and bolt shop I know of is Clarkenwell Screws in Clarkenwell (north of central london). They know their stuff and have mostly anything you want.

Good for cars too - got a set of new bolts for a manifold for £4 and better than the originals.

I use threaded inserts for wood, you can get them with or without a collar, drill the required hole in the piece, drive the inserts flush with Allen Key bobs yer uncle a thread in your wood. Thing is i think the smallest ive been able to get was M4, but i maybe wrang.

I have found this place to be a very useful resource - it has never failed me yet.
I don't think it would have come up with a 1.6 x 60 though - that seems very ''optimistic''
