Hello all

This feels a little self-indulgent but here goes...

I've spent the past few years filling my house with all sorts of second hand (and the occasional new) pieces of hifi equipment. Having finally exhausted the patience of my tenant and girlfriend with the sprawl of electronics I have slimmed down to broadly the following:

Sonos ZP90's and iMac plus CA Dacmagic as transport
Arcam A85/P90 into B&W CM5/CM8 respectively
Chord Crimson and Silverscreen

I like a wide variety of music, in fact to avoid a long dull list of genres it's easier to identify what I don't listen to. Namely; Jazz, Classical and German. This is one of my favourite (recent) songs to test a setup with...

I'm sure this doesn't quite pain the rich image that this forum is intended for but this sort of self-description doesn't come easy for me!

Hi Scott

I ran an A85/P80 system for a while, biamped into some PMCs. It was pretty good. Do you have four speakers on all the time then?

Nice intro, Scott. Always best to just be yourself, so welcome to AoS and I hope you enjoy your stay here. I'm not quite sure what musical genre 'German' is, though?

Welcome to AoS Scott.

We have no agenda here. All our members are first and foremost music lovers. How that pleasure is realised is of second consideration: each to their own. We are not at all interested in the cost of members systems, so I hope we haven't given you the impression that we are all a bunch of rich snobs - nothing could be further from the truth: "it's the music that matters".

Musical tastes are of course subjective, and here on AoS we rejoice in members's individual and varied tastes. However 'Jazz' and 'Classical' are very broad catagories - what exactly is it about these two genres you don't like? And what is 'German'? (Can, Neu, Amon Duul or Tangerine Dream?)

Welcome again.

Regards

Hi Scott and welcome to AoS,

I'll second what the rest of the gang have said. It doesnt matter what the system costs, we're all here because we love to make the best of what we have.

The spirit of improvement is what binds us.
