I've listened to this station since it was actually on 102.2' and loved it, but now, even as I type they're playing Steely Dan's Ricki don't lose that number, preceded by Michael McDonald and James Ingram's Yah mo be there.
Now excuse me for asking, but how long have the above artists been classed as Jazz players?

They now also play Motown, and a few Northern Soul tracks, a genre I love, but on Jazz FM?

I've also noticed a higher repeat rate of many songs on there too.

Just my observations, nothing more. :)

It used to have a great midnight - 2am show doing modern jazz back in the early 90's. I discovered Barbara Thomson, Pat Metheny, Lee Morgan, Miles Davis, Bill Evans that way.

It does sound a bit too 'smooth' for my tastes these days.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate there are many jazz stations on tinternet, in fact I have around 6 in my favourites section on the Touch, but I just think Jazz FM is losing direction a bit by trying to be all things to all people.

They played "Do I Love You" by Frank Wilson the other day, I love it, but a song that is classed as a mega Northern soul track, on Jazz FM...........?

I used to love Robbie Vincent's Jazz flavours on a Sunday morning - stumbled across much superb music thanks to that.

I stopped listening once it turned into Smooth FM in London - didn't realise it was available on 'not-proper' radio still!

Latest findings.........AWB's Let's Go Round Again, Jimmy Ruffin What Becomes Of The Brokenhearted, and The Isleys This Old Heart are all regularly over played out of news/news updates at the top and bottom of the hour.
Come on PD's, sort it out!

Jazz FM only exists as it was years ago on t'internet. Jazz FM 102.2 is now Smooth FM a totally different beast. Robbie Vincent is/was still spinning the discs.

Hmmm...actually it doesn't exist as it did on 102.2, it is now a dumbed down version of those good old FM days!

Smooth indeed do have their old London Frequency, that is true, as is Robbie" If it moves, funk it" Vincent, on Sunday mornings.

The old Jazz FM would not play the Average White Bands " Lets Go Round Again", or any of the overly repeated hand bag/ wedding reception Motown like the current one does.

I love Claire Anderson's Late Lounge show - but never plays anything I would call Jazz!
